Three days after the dinner party, Anne ran into Elvis at the school cafeteria. As expected, he had an audience who he was speaking to and Anne could bet what the speech was about.
Anne who had initially come to the cafe to hang out with her friends since it was a lecture-free day bought a cold drink instead and made to leave but Elvis' raised voice stopped her. He invited her to his overcrowded table with a wave of his hand. He was speaking directly to her from the far end of the room with his voice loud enough to cause a momentary deafness. Anne, irritated by his unruly behavior plus the way he had rudely called her gave a vain excuse, cussing at him in her head while trying hard to maintain a cool appearance. Apart from Michael's warning, the night of the dinner party, Anne was aware of Elvis' ruthlessness. He had been kind enough to display a fraction of it the day they first met.
