Dragon Hunt (part 2)

The search for the dragon's den did not take long. After all, the existence of a dragon is so big that even a child will be able to tell its location from far away.

We all followed the dragon's presence, and climbed up a really tall rocky mountain.

Fifteen minutes of walking, and we finally arrived at the den at the top of the tallest mountain in the vicinity. As soon as we arrived at the location, we spotted the dragon and immediately understood the state of the scene. And we immediately jumped in for battle.

We didn't plan at all, probably because we didn't have the time to do it.

Because that Arthur guy immediately rushed forward all by himself.

"Arthur!!!"

Jack shouted immediately with a pissed tone towards Arthur, who is currently rushing towards the sleeping dragon at his highest speed.

He unsheathed his sword as soon as he saw the dragon sleeping, and immediately rushed towards it before we even got to say anything. He saw the dragon at its weakest point, and became hasty.

Everyone else can only watch as he uses his highest speed to reach the sleeping dragon. But, Arthur only has something else in his mind.

"Killing the dragon this easy… I will be paid a ton!!"

So it was greed.

How pitiful.

Jack was about to rush in to help him, but a hand landed on his shoulder. He turned around and found me stopping him, while wearing a really pissed expression.

"... Wait. Let's teach him a lesson."

I said coldly, and Jack understood what I meant. He turned his gaze back to Arthur who was already getting quite close to the dragon. Everyone else also heard what I said, and they immediately understood what I was talking about.

Their gaze turned to the dragon, who was lying down on the ground. The side of the dragon's face can be seen from our side, but the other side is not visible.

It was difficult, but we were able to tell if we focused our eyes enough. Right where the dragon closed its eyes, we can see a barely visible scar going through its eyelids.

That dragon's left eye was not closed. It was wounded, and possibly couldn't be opened.

Meanwhile, we couldn't see the dragon's other eye, because it was on the other side.

And as I expected…

BOOM!!!

Arthur stopped his run, because suddenly the gigantic body of the dragon began to rise. Shadow began covering him since he was already quite close, and so the pressure began engulfing his entire body.

Everyone else also trembles when the heavy pressure is dropped on them, and it even makes Rose the healer fall to her knees.

The pressure on us was already heavy, and it was so much heavier for Arthur who is only five meters away from the rising gigantic dragon.

Once it has fully stood up on all four legs, we all can see the clear state of the dragon. There are indeed many scars on its body, proof that it is old and has seen many battles in the past. The scars on its body were much clearer than the one on its eye, which was rather unfortunate for the poor Arthur because he couldn't notice it.

The dragon turned its face towards Arthur, showing the completely opened right eye of the dragon.

The one-eyed Calibra.

That's the nickname of the dragon.

Arthur is frozen in the middle of the wide field, and the thirty meters tall dragon is staring down at him. The moment I sensed hatred from the dragon's eye, I immediately knew what the dragon is going to do.

"Jack."

"Yes, sir!"

I said to Jack hurriedly, and he immediately knew what to do. His body began to emit a really powerful pressure, and his legs started to burn heavily in red hot flames.

Before long, he leaped forward.

BAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Powerfully, with an explosion.

"ROOOOOOAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!"

The dragon opened its mouth wide, towards the frozen Arthur. The sword king guy couldn't move due to the heavy pressure of the dragon, and he is about to get overcooked by the gigantic dragon breath.

But, not if someone has something to do with it.

From behind, Jack arrived right next to Arthur in an instant. He stepped in front of him, and as the two of them got brighter, everyone could only watch.

VWOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The gigantic amount of pre-charged dragon breath ate them completely.

The ground melted from the flames, and the air is also getting very hot from the heatwave. Next to us, Baggets the tanker conjured a really powerful layer of magic protection to keep us safe from the heatwave.

The flames didn't even go anywhere near our position, but the heatwave was enough to melt the grounds five meters from it. Without Baggets casting that protection, our skin would've grown really tan.

"Thanks… Baggets."

I said to him, and he turned back to me looking quite worried.

"Uhh… No problem! But, what about those two…?"

He asked, and I turned my gaze back to the dragon.

"Don't worry. That guy got it."

It's normal for Baggets or everyone else to be worried, after all they don't know how powerful that red haired guy is. But, for someone who grew up with him and even went to the same school with him… I know.

That much of a flame is barely enough to annoy him.

The dragon finally stops its breath because it notices something from the target. Once the flames disappeared, it shows two completely untouched individuals, both wearing very different expressions.

One of them looks widely shocked and afraid, while the other is grinning widely.

And right on Jack's hand, is a powerful ball of flames. The very flames that sourced from the dragon.

"Thanks for the meal, dumbass!!!!"

Jack pointed his hand that was holding the fiery ball towards the dragon, and all of the contents leaked, releasing a powerful fire blaze.

VWOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A blazing fire blaze was released and shot straight towards the dragon, smacking the scales at its stomach with bright yellow flames. It wasn't as powerful as the dragon breath, but the pressure was destructive. It's not enough to melt the dragon skin, but definitely strong enough to give the dragon a punch in the gut.

The dragon got punched and pushed back, slamming its back on a tall mountain rock. It recovers from the punch pretty quickly, and opens its mouth to scream again.

"GROOOAAAA!!!!!!!!"

The dragon yelled once again, but Jack already covered his ears. As a result, he didn't hear everyone else walk closer.

"Yeesh… my ears are going to bleed…"

"How are you doing?"

I asked him after I arrived next to him, and he chuckled while placing his palms on my shoulder.

"I'm good, I'm good! That was amazing, though! Never thought I'd be able to absorb a dragon's breath like that!"

He said so proudly while I stared at his hand on my shoulder. That hand was holding flames just now, and it is still smoking even now right on top of my shoulder.

That hand was still very hot…

"Yeah… not everyday we're fighting dragons."

I commented while pushing his hand away, and I turned my gaze back to the dragon.

The punch was strong, but it wasn't even enough to break the scale. As expected of a thousand year old dragon, this guy will not be easy to beat.

With all of us working together, it might be possible. Though, that probably won't be since we all know how Arthur does things.

Unless…

I turned my gaze to the shocked Arthur, still sitting down on the ground. From his face, it shows exactly how scared he was just now. After all, he was this close to dying if it wasn't for Jack.

"Arthur."

I called him coldly, but it doesn't look like he wants to look at me. He quickly turned his face away, not wanting to see me in the eyes.

"… Arthur, enough. We can talk about that later. For now, we need your help."

Hearing me saying that, he immediately turned back to me with a surprised face. Not just him, everyone else also looked shocked.

How…?

How can I have this much patience with this guy?

Everyone, including Arthur, wonders about that. I am strong, and so is everybody else. We probably won't even need his help to begin with, especially with me being here.

But to me, nothing of that matters.

I lifted my hand forward, and a sword along with its scabbard appeared out of thin air. It came from my storage bracelet, where I stored tons of my things. Including this very sword I am holding.

The white-golden scabbard with a beautiful blue pearl in the middle got pulled out by my other hand, revealing a beautiful golden blade that emits light just like the sun. I placed the scabbard on my hips as I lowered the sword, and I turned my gaze back to Arthur.

"Arthur."

I called him coldly one last time, as if I'm running out of patience.

I'm not, but we simply don't have time to continue dawdling like this. The dragon is already recovering from the shock, and if we don't move, it might just fire-breath us into nonexistence.

Arthur needs to make a decision, and quick.

The guy knows what I am going on about, and he slowly stood up from the ground. He picked up his blade from the ground, and stared at it for a while.

It was also a beautiful sword. His blade is black, but the handle is red with many flame-like engravings. The two of us had the best looking swords in the kingdom, but they aren't just all show.

After all, we are the kingdom's two best swordsmen.

His personality is shit. And Arthur of all people knows that, which confused him very much as to why I am still talking to him even now.

But, none of that is necessary.

Once you are on the battlefield, all of those things are unnecessary.

And right in front of us… is the battle itself.

The dragon has finally recovered. A bright yellow light can be seen on its neck, showing that the contents are definitely a heavy force of flames. As expected, the time it took to create a single gigantic wave of fire breath is quite long.

And the entire time, Jack was counting.

"How long was that?"

I turned to Jack and asked, and he grinned as he answered.

"Thirty seconds!"

"… Good."

Our plan will work just nicely.

The dragon opened its mouth wide towards us, ready to shoot a large amount of flames. But, everyone is already prepared.

"Ready, Arthur?"

I asked the guy behind me one last time, and he took a step forward.

"Yeah!!!"

Not sure why he shouted… he was very close to us.

But, that shout is what we needed.

"Let's go!"

I commanded, and everyone began moving.

The fire breath was released, and everything turned bright. Everyone already disappeared from their places, untouched by the flames and truly ready to fight.

The upcoming battle was not that difficult, since all six of us are working together just nicely. In fact, it was way too smooth.

As a result, the infamous one thousand years old dragon known as One Eyed Calibra, has been slain…

Only two minutes since the battle has started.
