<Dylan perspective>
I snapped out of my thoughts as Vivian started laughing. "Even with her, you can't escape this place. My men have surrounded it, and O'Grady is coming for you," she said. Despite being in pain, Vivian was still acting like she was in control.
Did she say O'Grady? It's not possible—he died in front of me.
Annie took out her phone and called someone. I was holding my wound as Annie, desperately looking at it, said, "Ava, can you please get here? I need help."
Vivian tried to pick up the walkie-talkie, but Annie took it and crushed it with her bare hands. Speaking into the phone, she said, "I can't talk about that on the phone. Please get here fast."
As she hung up the phone, Annie knocked Vivian out and said to me, "Just hold on a little longer," while picking up a red injection from a box.
As she was about to inject me with it, I asked cautiously, "Annie, what's in that injection?" Annie didn't answer and injected me with it.
In just a few seconds, I felt heat all over my body. The pain in my abdomen intensified, but then the bleeding stopped, and my wound healed as if it had never been there. I felt as energetic as I had eight years ago.
I looked at Annie in surprise, but suddenly more men with guns entered. I glanced at Annie, picked up a gun, and shot them in the head. I felt guilty for involving Annie in all this. She had saved my life even though she barely knew me.
After five minutes, I was about to leave with Annie when I saw a man outside whose face I couldn't forget. He smirked at me, surrounded by twenty men. I turned to Annie. "Please leave this place. I don't want you to die because of me."
Annie replied with a smile, "Don't worry, we'll be safe," and showed me another red injection. How could someone be so kind? Was she a real angel from heaven?
I heard a sound behind me. When I turned, I saw a masked woman fighting twenty men alone. Annie smiled at her, indicating that she knew the masked woman.
The masked woman was beating people like bugs, using metallic gloves to blast one man's head. I ran to help her, but by the time I got near, only O'Grady remained. He looked at the masked woman with horror on his face. "What in the world are you, bastard?"
A masked woman replied in a deep male voice, "I am Batman." As she blasted a beam at O'Grady, creating a hole in his chest, he fell to the ground. I was more surprised by her voice than by the hole in O'Grady's chest.
The masked woman approached Annie and asked, "Are you safe?"
Annie nodded, "Yeah, but I think I have to leave this place too."
The masked woman nodded, "Get your necessary things. We are leaving; the authorities might arrive at any moment." She then turned to me and asked, "And what's the deal with this woman?"
Annie replied, "She is my friend, and I used an injection on her because she was heavily bleeding."
A masked woman looked into my eyes with her blue eyes and said, "You are coming with us, and for your information, you are officially dead to the world." What does she mean by "dead"? Is she going to kill me or kidnap me?
As Annie came out with a bag in her hand, she said, "I got everything."
The masked woman nodded, "Let's go." Annie held my hand, "It's okay, let's go." I calmed down.
As we got inside the car, the masked woman threw a metallic ball that was glowing red into Annie's house. As we left the place, I heard a loud blast. I knew that metallic ball was a bomb.
As we left the city and entered the forest, we changed cars. To my surprise, the last car drove itself; I mean, there was no driver inside it.
We stopped at a house in the forest. It's a good place to hide since we couldn't get here with normal cars; we needed off-road vehicles.
As the masked woman got out of the car, she said, "Get inside, I'll be there in a minute."
Annie and I went inside the house and took a seat on the sofa. Annie looked at me and said, "Dylan, my real name is Helen, so I am sorry for lying to you."
I replied with guilt, "No, you don't have to be sorry. I'm just a stranger you met by coincidence. Besides, I knew your real name wasn't Annie."
Helen looked surprised, "Really?"
I nodded, "Yeah, I used to work for an organization named Angels, run by a head named Charlie."
Helen nodded, "Oh really, I know about it. There was some talk about it in the underworld."
I choked when Helen said "underworld." Is she a criminal? But she is so kind. As I was thinking, the masked woman came inside and said in a very serious tone while looking at Helen, "I want a detailed explanation of what happened."
Helen then started explaining everything about the turn of events. After that, the masked woman looked at me, "Now your turn."
I also explained to her my side of the story. As the masked woman broke the table with her fist, she said, "Do you know if something happened to you because of your carelessness, John would have lost his last hope for life?"
Helen nodded in guilt, "I am sorry."
The masked woman chuckled, "You should be sorry, but now I have to punish you."
Helen frowned, "Punishment?"
The masked woman replied, "Yeah, from now on you are not allowed to leave this place until I find a way to keep you safe." She then turned to me, "And you have to pay me for that injection, saving your life, risking Helen's life, and that house I blasted because of that attack. The total amount should be 2.7 billion dollars."
I choked because I had never even seen that much money, "Is there any other way?"
The masked woman nodded, "Yeah, there is. Work for me until you pay it off using the salary you will earn."
Is she going to make me her slave or an office worker with a low salary?
The masked woman continued, "You are a retired Angel, right?" I nodded. She said, "You will work for my organization, which I recently created."
I asked cautiously, "Is it an evil organization?" The masked woman chuckled, "No, it's not. It's a neutral organization under my control."
