Missing her

ALPHA MAVERICK'S POV

She was gone.

It has been three hours since she left, and I haven't been able to move from my place.

I was overreacting. I have been telling myself that for the past two hours, coaxing myself to work, but no matter how many times I tried, I just couldn't move.

I gave orders to my team and sorted some deals over the phone, but after all that, I just couldn't move from this dining table.

It was as if my heart was hopeful she would return to this same seat, hold my hand, and tell me she was just kidding and not leaving.

She didn't leave me for long. It was just a mission. And for an alpha as strong as me who knew the vitality of such things, my heart was really making me feel pathetic.

But was it wrong to want someone like that? Was it wrong to crave someone's presence so severely?

I looked at the seat where she was sitting and laughed for three consecutive days.
