Chapter 202: Kosovo

FRONTLINE: SLAVIC FACTION ARMY CENTRAL POSITION (ISSEI ELSHA)

"Are you ready Issei?" Elsha said as she was marching forward until she deemed a good distance.

"Yeah, as ready as I ever will be." Issei responded as he steeled himself for the upcoming battle.

"Do not worry, you will be fine, and think of this as your first ever true fight. While the battles you had with Riser and Kokabiel were real and dangerous, it's nothing in comparison to this.

There you only needed to be concern of one opponent, here you must worry about a lot more. If we manage to win this, I will personally reward you my "King" afterward."

Elsha slyly said to him, before she moved towards him and lean in as whispered some more enticing things to his ear before biting his ear in a way so that no one saw, not that she was concerned if anyone saw. As Issei's face now resembled the color of his Balance-Breaker at what she told him.

Elsha told him as she pointed towards the Blood Knights that are all in line with their commander Lazar looking at them with a serious but fatherly gaze. "Listen closely what he will say, a good leader knows how and when to inspire his troops.

On and off the battlefield, that is why you sometimes see a few of the soldiers having a brawl here and there. It is not because they have an issue with one another, it's more about letting lose the stress and to lift their spirits.

Now listen closely, uncle Lazar is one of the few people that are known to inspire people's hearts and even after his fall, his words and his 'curse and order' is still so strong in his people's minds that they obey it without a second thought or question.

But his people obey it not out of fear but out of respect and courage that he himself set about, a high standard for bravery and courage when it was a time of great peril and paid for in his own blood.

Even Vido was moved when he heard it and after that battle, he literally forced Veles to bring Lazar to his court and was ready to go to war for a warrior like him.

Vido is a man that respects bravery, cunning and strength but above all else, he respects those that showed a warrior code. Those who would never point their swords or guns on the defeated or those who could not fight.

Calming a bit from imagining what Elsha said, Issei nodded his head before he looked over at the regiment of the Blood Knights that were eager to hear their commander.

They all dismounted their steeds and form a solid line of flesh and iron that was a magnificent site to see and in Issei's honest opinion a bit frightening.

"My sons, I will be honest with you as I was all this time. When I heard that those bastards are coming back, I volunteered our regiment to fight.

I know that I committed all of you to this battle and a chance that you may lose your life for good this time. I will be the first to say, I fear what may happen. But I am not scared about my life.

My life was gone the moment I entered the field of Kosovo on our Lord's Day, and I do not regret it one bit that my mortal body was destroyed.

My regret is that I did not do enough on that day, didn't ensured more for our country, our people who even besides that magnificent battle still look up to us, to be their guardians in battle.

We are there hope and inspiration. Now as I look at the host that is threatening our lands again, I feel as that same fear from centuries ago is coming back.
