Chapter 36: Solo Mission

[3rd POV] [Watchtower]

A couple of days had passed since the mass assimilation of new characters, and a bit had happened. For one, Gwen had completed her second to last solo mission, which involved infiltrating a terrorist group and then wiping them out, not through killing...sadly.

The group was not really all that strong or anything, so it went by quickly.

Besides taking care of the terrorist group, she had focused primarily on abusing her intuitive aptitude. Learning more and more about the inner workings of things like the League's tower, the various systems within the Mountain, and even the batcomputers.

The entirety of which she understood just from glancing at. The intelligence and knowledge of her various characters being quite the cheat when combined with the power.

With it, she managed to discreetly notice, and find flaws in the different systems. While she couldn't really fix them herself, without getting a lot of questions, she was able to talk with Bruce about the idea of her helping with the computer systems, which he and the League would be speaking about soon.

She had also went out on another date with her adorable little Martian, and had a pretty enjoyable makeout session on top of that.

Currently, Gwen was in the Watchtower, waiting for her solo mission from her pops.

'Hopefully it's half decent, like getting rid of an underground crime ring or something' Gwen thought with a yawn of boredom.

Most missions now a days were...boring, and not very challenging. Twas the curse of being as smart as she was. Add in the martial arts, and Gwen doubted the Light would be much of a challenge, besides maybe Klarion, but she had been speaking with Nabu about him, and an idea she had involving him. But, that wasn't something she could test and figure out until later.

"Good, you're here" Bruce said as he walked into the room. Hearing her dad, she smiled.

"Morning dad" Gwen said with a smile.

"Morning Gwen. Now, you've got a mission. An important one" Bruce said, greeting her before turning serious.

"What sort of mission?" Gwen asked with a raised eyebrow.

Batman, in response, pressed a button as the screen blared and an individual appeared.

'Thats...'

"Harley Quinn, as of recent, has been increasing her and Joker's followers attacks. The reason why...seems to be that she believes he is...dead. Whether or not this is true, does not matter at the moment. Your mission is simple, infiltrate Joker's compound where Harley and Joker's followers are, and stop them" Batman said simply, a sigh escaping his lips at the mention of Joker potentially dying.

He highly doubted the idea, but if he was dead...then he'd need to investigate. Because while the joker was and is complete evil, he still had to go through the proper channels. Well, that's what Bruce believed at least.

'...I hate that she's hot' Gwen thought with a deep sigh, cursing the fact that half of DC women are hot as hell, the villains more so half the time.

"So, Gotham I'm assuming?" Gwen asked, causing Bruce to nod.

"Yes. Will you be able to do this? Harley, while not as dangerous as the Joker, should not be underestimated" Bruce asked, his voice serious as can be.

"I'm certain dad. You'd have to give me someone a lot stronger for it to be a problem. You and the League might not have noticed, but I'm a hell of a lot stronger than I used to be, not to mention smarter" Gwen replied with a comforting smile.

"How much stronger?"

"Hmm, I should be able to lift close to a thousand tons. If I went all out, it'd be several times that number" Gwen replied after thinking for a few moments.

Bruce went silent at this news, comparing that to what she last showed him 'She's gotten...far far stronger...over five times what she previously could do. She's also smarter...she's beginning to evolve faster...at this level...she's far beyond the rest of her team...this warrants more investigation' Bruce thought, as he realized Gwen was seemingly hiding quite a bit from him.

Gwen noticed her father's reaction, and inwardly sighed, knowing that he was going to start to investigate more on her powers, and that would lead him down a rabbit hole.

'Looks like an argument is going to start sooner or later' Gwen realized, knowing that it was only a matter of time before Bruce found out that she had killed Joker, Wotan, and all the rest of the villains that supposedly escaped or betrayed their allies.

"So, when do I leave?" Gwen asked, deciding to redirect the conversation back to something else.

"Now, if possible" Bruce replied, getting shaken out of his thoughts.

'Time to hunt down a Jesters ex'

[3rd POV] [Gotham]

After talking with Bruce for a bit longer, Gwen left to complete her mission. The compound was at a rather...interesting location, one where the Joker himself was born, alongside Harley Quinn.

Swinging to a lightpole, Gwen surveyed the surroundings. The place was crawling with Joker's minions, none of them being at all threatening or anything, but there was...quite a few of them.

Silently, Gwen began to slowly make her way around the compound, wiping out all the minions outside, knocking each and every one of them into unconsciousness.

Swinging into the actual main Ace Chemical's factory itself, Gwen began to crawl alongside the roof. The place was rundown, and had tons of clown esque items around.

The factory also didn't really have many minions inside, perhaps a dozen or so, all of which were easy to get rid of. None of them were metahumans, or really special in the least. Hell, none of them even had proper training in the weapons they were wielding. It was basically just a bunch of cultists that followed the Joker.

Crawling into an open room, Gwen silently watched Harley Quinn. The woman in question was seemingly...sobbing?

"Mr J's gotta be out there! There's no way my puddin would die!" Harley yelled at one of the nearby minions.

Gwen silently listened to the woman, sighing inwardly, feeling bad for her 'Joker's really brainwashed the shit out of her'

Gwen slowly made her way closer to the last group of minions, and Harley herself. Slowly climbing down one of the nearby pillars, she breathed in, before *Swiish* she jumped using the pillar, speeding toward the minions.

"It's the Spider! Stop her!" Harley yelled, only to go wide eyed as Gwen's symbiote swung out of her, slamming its tendrils against the last remaining minions.

'Disapointing' Gwen thought with a sigh, as she landed in front of Harley. Before Harley could even try to pick up her large hammer, or any sort of weapon, her arms were both webbed to the ground.

"It's over Harley" Gwen said bluntly, looking down at her.

"No it isn't! Mr. J will just break me out like always! My puddin always saves me!" Harley yelled out, trying to break free of the powerful bindings.

Gwen sighed and walked closer "I'm sorry that you've been brainwashed into loving that piece of trash. Hopefully you'll find a friend at Arkham. Try talking to Poison Ivy, I think you'll find it to be worthwhile" Gwen said before giving Harley a short, yet powerful punch, knocking her into unconsciousness.

'About as exciting as I was expecting' Gwen thought, glancing at the downed form of Harley.

"Batman, the missions a success. Harley and her minions are apprehended" Gwen said into her comms.

"Good job. I'll be there soon. You can go ahead and head back to the Mountain" Batman replied, causing Gwen to smile before glancing at Harley once more, before leaving.

On her way out, she made sure to strip them of all weapons, while also making sure they were webbed in place. Seeing as they were, she swung away, leaving Ace chemical's full of downed villains/criminals, ready for Bat's to take away.

[Back at the Mount]

Walking through the Zeta-tube, Gwen began to make her way back to her room, knowing that it was finally time to evolve her system.

The rest of the team was out, either at school, out with family, or whatever else. Thus, the Mount was pretty much completely empty, with only Superboy inside, and she was pretty sure he was training at the  moment.

Walking back into her room, she pulled her mask off before tossing it to the side, and flopped onto her bed.

'System is the quest complete?'

[Evolution Quest Complete!]

Task - Kill 10 villains [Complete]

Task - Absorb 25 databases [Complete]

Task - Complete 5 Justice League missions successfully [Complete]

Task - Complete 10 solo missions successfully [Complete]

Task - Destroy 10 criminal groups [Complete]

[Begin evolution?]

'Go ahead and begin system' Gwen thought with a grin, as one last thought escaped her, as everything went black.

'Time to really get strong'

Sorry about the quality, but that mission...was really hard to write. So I just did the best I could.

Next chapter will be her new system, some rolls, and assimilation. Give me more ideas for Urban (building to multi city block) level characters she could get.

Next chapter should also be longer too, so that'll be good.
