Chapter 15 Can't Eat to Fullness, Not Enough Strength (2)_1

Pei Qin responded with an imposing retort, "Where will the strength come from if I don't eat enough?"

Most of her strength was spent on causing trouble and fighting. Father Pei chuckled, looking at his daughter with pride on his face.

The original host was young but had a big appetite. In the Pei family, she had never eaten her fill!

Pei Qin turned her head coldly, "What? You want to sell me for land and not even let me have a full meal?"

Lady Zhu choked with anger, thinking of the match-making visit from Qian Dog's family at noon, glaring fiercely at Pei Qin and reaching out to snatch the food, "One is enough for you!"

"I want three!" This cake is just a piece of dough, slapped and stuck on the edge of the pot. It looked not small, but being flat, there wasn't much dough in reality.

When Lady Zhu heard she wanted not just two but three, she spat out insults, "Are you a pig to eat three!? What have you done to deserve three!? Who do you think you are, and what makes you eligible to eat three!?"

"Because you're trading me for two acres of land." Pei Qin sneered.

Lady Zhu wished she could tear up her mouth and smash her face, pointing angrily at Pei Qin, "Sending you to that family is for your own good! Change your ways, who would want you!? We're even giving two acres of land for your dowry! Don't be ungrateful!"

Pei Qin held a pot cake in one hand and a bowl in the other, with chopsticks in hand, disdainfully watching her while eating.

Lady Fang's eyes reddened as she hurried to apologize to Lady Zhu, "Mother! There's still a viewing this morning, and Da Ya is just too nervous! She didn't mean to talk back to you on purpose!"

Lady Zhu didn't believe her but wanting to ensure the eldest grandson's future, said coldly, "You beat up your sister-in-law and Er Lang so badly they can't get off the bed, and you still eat so much. You all will finish stripping a stack of corn today! Otherwise, don't expect to eat!"

Lady Fang habitually agreed, taking on the work imposed by Lady Zhu.

Lady Zhu huffed and carried the basket of bread and the dishes back to the main room.

Old Pei returned with a round-bottom whisker basket slung over his shoulder, holding a small iron shovel, the basket containing a couple of lumps of cow dung and a few pieces of dog poop.

"Grandpa, you've picked up so much dung in just one trip!" Si Ya said with a smile, stepping forward to take the basket from Old Pei, "I'll dump it in the manure pit in the backyard!"

Old Pei handed her the basket, leaned the shovel against the kitchen wall, and went to wash his hands.

Lady Zhu complained to him, "I don't know what Da Ya is reborn from, the food had just been made, the elders hadn't even eaten, and she already had two pot cakes and half a bowl of vegetables!"

Old Pei's hand washing his face paused, his frown showing dissatisfaction, but he ultimately didn't say anything, finished washing his face, "Let's eat!"

On the other side, Pei Qin had already strode into the main room, filled a large bowl with pot cakes, scooped up a bowl of tea, and grabbed two WoWos.

Lady Zhu turned her head and almost couldn't catch her breath, "You damn girl, are you trying to eat this family into ruin!"

Old Pei also took a deep breath, his brows tightly knitted.

"Then we can leave, Mother," Pei Qin said indifferently, carrying her food back to the kitchen.

"You…you see! Her father! Such a monstrous child…" Lady Zhu was so angry she was physically shaking.

Old Pei interrupted her, "Enough! Let's eat," he said sternly, giving Pei Qin a look and wiping his face before entering the main room.

Wendong, seeing such a large bowl of pot cakes and WoWos and looking at his older sister, was a bit scared that he might get beaten after eating.

Pei Qin stuffed a pot cake into his hand, placed the bowl in the middle of the small broken table, grabbed a WoWo for herself, "Whoever wants it, take it!"

Lady Fang sighed, speaking gently to San Ya and Si Ya, "Go ahead and eat!"

San Ya took a pot cake with some worry.

Si Ya, already with a bite taken, complained to Pei Qin, "Eating extra now, see if we're not exhausted from the work in the next few days!"

Lady Fang called out to her, "Si Ya!"

Si Ya pouted and said no more. Her mother was always biased towards the eldest sister! She could even talk back to grandpa and grandma and still get to eat first, and Mother still protected the eldest sister! It would be them who got punished later!

After eating, Lady Fang quickly cleaned the pot and fed the pigs.

Si Ya urged Pei Qin to go shell the corn kernels.

But Pei Qin wanted to leave the house; she was planning to figure out a way to make money!

"Where are you going?" Lady Zhu called out when she saw her leaving.

"To the town!" Pei Qin answered coldly.

Lady Chen, who had been eating in the west room, overheard her mention going out and to town, dropped her chopsticks, and rushed out, "You damned worthless girl, stop right there!" She had already promised Qian Dog, and there was to be a viewing today.
