Chapter 16

|3rd POV|

Thorys, one of the twenty-four magisters of Lys, looks at his fellow magisters and says.

"We managed to gather five hundred and seventy mercenaries to attack that upstart to the north. Not only that, we will also move two hundreds of Unsullieds to help the mercenaries in this attack."

He can see his fellow magisters nodding their heads.

This all started when the Lunaran family expanded at a tremendous speed. At first, they did not mind it. However, the Lunaran family has expanded even more than they like. They are now the one monopoly of the food trade in the Narrow Sea.

No one can trade as much food as they do, and no one can compete with their price. Because of this, many merchants complain about the price of food dropping to the very bottom, and all the food they own starts to go bad because no one is willing to buy food from them.

And it affects a lot of the magisters' wealth. With their wealth affected, they must take care of the problem before it grows.

"Now it is only a problem of when we should attack. What do you think, Donodos?"

Thorys looks at Gonfaloniere, the Military Leader of Lys, and sees him nodding his head.

"We shall attack them in a month. I will lead the attack to ensure the mercenaries do not damage any goods we can get from that place."

And that is another thing that makes them want to attack the Lunaran family. The news of them can heal the damaged slaves on that island, which has already spread across the countries. Some of the spies sent to that island also confirmed that the damaged slaves were as good as new and even more beautiful and handsome than before.

All the magisters want that piece of bread for themselves. They want to take all the slaves they discard to that island and steal the knowledge of healing the Lunaran family contained on that island. Their greedy minds are already thinking of using that knowledge to increase their slave trade and become one of the best slave traders in the world, beating the Slaver Cities in the quality of slaves.

"Good"

The First Magister, the elected ruler of Lys, nods his head.

"If you need anything, you can tell me, and we will give it to you. As long as you bring back what we want, we will get you anything you need."

Donodos nods his head and says.

"Leave it to me. Is there anything else? I must prepare for new ships and other things we need to bring in this attack.

Seeing no one want to say anything, Donodos leaves the room to prepare.

In Braavos, Ferrego Antaryon looks at the letter in front of him with a sigh. In his happiness at getting the position of Sealord of Braavos, he forgot that he got this position because of someone else's help. Someone who has the backing of a Faceless man, even when that someone did not know about it.

He forgot to inform his patron about the rumor he heard and got reprimanded for this action.

So when he sees the letter in front of him, he decides to do his duty to his patron.

"Qarro"

A second later, a man entered his office. This is Qarro Volentin, the First Sword of Braavos, his bodyguard.

"My lord."

Ferrego looks at him and says.

"Take this letter and send it to the Lunaran family. Make sure to send it using our fastest raven. I need that letter to arrive in Lunaran territory by tomorrow at the latest."

"Of course, my lord."

Ferrego nods his head and watches his guard leave his office. He leans on his chair and thinks of the incoming storm. He wants to think that Prince Viserys cannot win the incoming fight from the number of mercenaries the magisters of Lys have gathered.

However, he did not think that the House of Black and White would support someone without knowing that they would grow into something big. Not only that, he had already witnessed how Prince Viserys grew his house from nothing and turned it into something big.

He does not have the same spy network as the House of Black and White, but he has a spy network, and they are telling him that Viserys grows so big that they are the sole reason why the North of Westeros did not ask for a loan from the Iron Bank to buy food.

He does not know the reason why Viserys helped the North, as they are among the people who dethrone his family, but he has a couple of theories, and all of them show how cunning the prince can be.

He hesitates to send help because if he joins this conflict, Braavos will become the enemy of Lys. If Viserys wins the fight, he can get more from the Merchant Prince, but if he loses, he will lose the trade route to the south of the Narrow Sea.

Or he can take the safer route and not do anything. He had already sent a notice about the movement of Lys and the number of mercenaries they hired; he did not need to send people to fight the battle of not his own making.

After thinking for a few seconds, he decided to take the second option. He will not send the people of Braavos to fight alongside the Merchant Prince. He already performs his duty to his patron. He did not have any duty to do more.

"What do you mean these are the last goods?"

Wyman Manderly looks at the man in front of him in shock. Horo shakes his head and says.

"Yes, my lord. We need to prepare for the incoming attack from Lys."

"What?"

Horo looks at him with a small frown and says.

"It looks like the magisters of Lys decided that we are a perfect target to attack. They sent at least six hundred men to plunder our land. They want to take back their 'slaves' who found a new life."

"That is…"

"Bad. Yes. Because of this, we have decided to sell you as many foods as we could carry in our ships to help the North in their trying time."

Those words move Wyman. Even when their homeland gets attacked, they still think of them.

"In exchange, will you offer sanctuary for our lord in case we cannot make it?"

Wyman's eyes light up and say.

"Of course! We are more than happy to have your lord in our land. Please tell that young lord that he and his people are welcome in White Harbor. He helped us, and we will help him in return. The North remembers all the help we receive."

Horo nods his head and says.

"Thank you."

"Tell me if there is anything we can do to help you."

Horo nods and says.

"I will."
