Chapter 206: Isn't It Good to Live Well?

"Master of Verbal Evasion?" Upon learning that his mother had escaped from danger, Skye's tightly wound spirit finally relaxed. "Sounds interesting. Does it mean his power comes from his mouth?"

"No!" Clark gently shook his head, then leisurely explained, "Over a decade ago, a powerful Earthling named Carol was abducted by the Kree at the onset of her powers awakening and underwent brainwashing. Yon-Rogg was the Kree assigned as her trainer, relying on deception to prevent Carol from using her powers, barely maintaining the upper hand."

Mockery in his eyes, Clark continued, "Eventually, Carol regained her memory, remembering her Earthling identity, and that her superpowers had nothing to do with the Kree. At that point, Yon-Rogg still tried to persuade Carol to abandon her powers, using his weakness against her strength."

Skye's curiosity was piqued by Clark's story, prompting him to eagerly ask, "And then?"

"Then," Clark said with disdain, "Yon-Rogg's verbal evasion failed, and Carol blasted him more than a hundred meters away with her powers."

Impressed, Skye launched a shockwave at Yon-Rogg without warning: "Like this?"

With a single strike, Yon-Rogg was sent crashing through the convenience store's back wall and flying far away.

Clark nodded in approval, "The posture and spirit were almost perfect, but we need to capture this guy alive."

With a wave of his hand, Clark expanded the hole Yon-Rogg had created, making it large enough for three people to pass through side by side, and quietly instructed his assistant, "Qingfeng, buy this convenience store."

Approaching the breach, Clark's pace was steady. Given Skye's powerful shockwave, he doubted Yon-Rogg could escape from him.

However, as Clark reached the breach, the hooded figure previously held hostage by Yon-Rogg suddenly lunged at Clark's leg.

Sif also noticed the hooded figure's action at that moment.

Upon closer inspection, they realized that the hand reaching out from beneath the garment was slender and fair, not at all masculine.

This revelation led Sif to urgently warn Clark, "Mr. Clark, be careful!"

Her quick reaction was commendable, but it was too late for Clark to dodge after hearing her warning.

As the woman's hand almost touched Clark's leg, Sif's heart sank.

It was over!

If she touched Clark, it would truly be the end!

Would the catastrophe that swept across the Nine Realms 600 years ago repeat itself?

However, at that moment, a powerful repulsive force erupted from Clark, blasting the woman and her slender hand away, crashing into a damp wall like a painting, where she hung for a few seconds before sliding down.

As the woman "hung" on the wall, everyone got a clear view of her. She had fiery red hair, fair and delicate skin, and a voluptuous figure, rare even among the many beauties Clark knew. Yet, Clark's gaze held no admiration, only a cold, murderous intent.

It's no wonder Clark lacked compassion; anyone would find it hard to feel merciful towards a woman with mind-control abilities who had almost succeeded in manipulating him.

Seeing that Clark wasn't controlled, Sif's heart, which had been in her throat, finally settled. She stepped forward, drawing her sword and accusingly said, "Lorelei, you actually disguised yourself as an Inhuman being hunted by the Kree. What a scheme!"

Indeed, the woman who tried to approach Clark was Lorelei, the Asgardian enchantress Sif had mentioned, capable of controlling men through touch and voice.

"Lamentably, my scheme ultimately failed," Lorelei's voice was as melodious as a nightingale, incredibly pleasing to the ear.

After a self-mocking chuckle, Lorelei turned away from Sif, instead addressing Clark, "Could you tell me how you discovered me? I've already lost, but I don't want to lose without understanding why. Tell me, where did I slip up?"

Clark then turned to Sif, "You have a way to restrict her abilities, right?"

Sif nodded, producing a golden collar, "Putting this collar on Lorelei will prevent her from making any sound."

With a nod, Clark gestured for Sif to proceed.

Sif, smiling, approached and placed the collar around the temporarily powerless Lorelei's neck, then handcuffed her hands with cuffs from seemingly nowhere.

After fully subduing the enchantress, Sif stood up and turned to Clark, "Everything is settled now. I'm also curious about how you noticed something was off with her."

Clark chuckled, then shook his head, "Let's save that for next time. She just tried to manipulate me; I don't intend to satisfy her curiosity. Let her dwell on it in frustration."

As Lorelei was pulled to her feet by Sif, her eyes filled with rage towards Clark, as if she wanted to devour him. If not for the golden collar sealing her voice, she might have cursed him out loud without any semblance of dignity.

Seeing the constant flow of impression points in the system's backend, Clark felt keeping Lorelei in suspense and letting her contribute to his impression points was a rather good choice.

With this understanding, he was even less likely to reveal that he had seen her name in the system's backend, which made him extra cautious around others.

"Damn that despicable woman, daring to try and control me!" Yon-Rogg roared as he returned, having been blasted away by Skye.

Having lost his rifle to Skye's attack, Yon-Rogg drew a pistol from his leg holster, aiming at the fully subdued Lorelei.

The intolerance for being controlled by someone's mind is something no man could bear.

Universal Gravitation Pull!

Clark acted swiftly, pulling the technologically advanced pistol from Yon-Rogg's hand before he could react.

Playing with the pistol, Clark lightly shook his head, "Lorelei is an Asgardian prisoner; you can't just execute her."

"Also," he added, tossing the pistol into his personal space, "you've attacked Earthlings without permission, making you our prisoner now."

"What did you say?"

Enraged, Yon-Rogg bellowed at Clark, "We came to Earth to retrieve what rightfully belongs to the Kree. What's wrong with that?"

"Kree experiments?" Clark's gaze turned icy, "You conducted experiments on Earthlings without our consent and dare claim their descendants as your property?"

With a scoff, Clark continued, "If we follow that logic, we might as well experiment on you, making all Kree our experiments. There'd be no need to bother Odin with negotiating the release of prisoners of war with the Kree."

Shocked and enraged, Yon-Rogg threatened to report to the Supreme Intelligence and have Ronan the Accuser lead an army to reclaim what belonged to the Kree.

"Ronan the Accuser?" Clark's lips curled into a smirk, "I've heard he's a formidable force in the universe. I'd be quite interested in joining forces with him."

Sif stepped forward, standing beside Clark, "Before I came to Earth, His Majesty explicitly instructed that Asgard and Earth are unbreakable allies. If anyone dares attack Earth, Asgard will not stand idly by!"

Yon-Rogg, initially startled, soon revealed a crazed expression, "So what? If the Supreme Intelligence learns of the experiment's success, I doubt they'd hesitate to wage war against Earth and even Asgard."

"Sigh..." Clark shook his head in pity, "Isn't it good to live well?"

"What do you mean?" Yon-Rogg was puzzled.

At that moment, Clark swiftly moved, his words turning into a sword, brushing past Yon-Rogg.

In the next instant, Yon-Rogg's head soared into the air, blood spraying everywhere.

Impression points from Yon-Rogg: +1000!
