Chapter 238: Brainwashing

Leaving the venue of the party, Murphy and Gal Gadot took a ride back to the hotel. They went up in the elevator together and soon reached the floor where the Miss Universe contestants were staying. As the elevator doors opened with a ding, Gal Gadot said goodbye to Murphy and was about to step out, but Murphy stopped her.

"Gal," Murphy took her hand, inviting her, "It's still early, why don't you come to my place for a while?"

As boyfriend and girlfriend, the implications behind such an invitation were clear to Gal Gadot. She grew up in a typical Jewish family in Israel and felt a mix of excitement and hesitation.

She was sure of her love for Murphy, but they had only been officially dating for a short time. Wasn't it too soon for physical intimacy?

Murphy opened his arms and gently embraced her. Gal Gadot leaned against his chest, uncertain of what to do.

While Gal Gadot was still hesitating, the elevator made the decision for her.

Due to no one entering or exiting for a long time, the elevator doors automatically closed and went straight to the floor where Murphy's room was located.

"Then let's sit for a while," she thought, stepping out of the elevator and following Murphy to a presidential suite. Murphy opened the door, "Please come in, my goddess."

Although Gal Gadot didn't understand why Murphy said that, she felt a surge of sweetness in her heart.

She entered the room, observing the luxurious living room. Murphy flipped the 'Do Not Disturb' sign outside the door and came up behind Gal Gadot, embracing her slim waist from behind.

As Gal Gadot turned her head back, what awaited her was a passionate kiss. Their lips and tongues intertwined, and she felt a strong hand moving up her exposed thigh, caressing it…

Though the couple had not yet been fully intimate, they had engaged in many affectionate acts. Gal Gadot noticed Murphy's fascination with her legs, which he adored like a child with a favorite toy.

In the next moment, she felt Murphy's other hand reaching for the opening of her dress, undoing a fastener in an instant...

Entering this room, Gal Gadot knew what would happen tonight. Since she loved Murphy and he loved her, it was just a matter of time.

However, she didn't want to be so passive, waiting to be toyed with by this bad boy.

Just as Murphy was undoing her dress, Gal Gadot suddenly broke free from his embrace, stepped forward, and with a slight tearing sound, Murphy was left holding a torn dress. Gal Gadot, now in her underwear and pasties, turned around two meters away, giving Murphy a provocative smile and a beckoning gesture.

At that moment, actions spoke louder than words. Murphy walked over, and they became entwined with each other.

The long night seemed endless. After falling asleep in the early morning hours with an exhausted Gal Gadot, Murphy woke up at 8 a.m. the next day.

He reached beside him, but she was gone, though her high heels were still askew on the carpet. The wardrobe opposite him was open, and the casual women's clothes prepared earlier were missing.

He could faintly hear footsteps outside the bedroom and Gal Gadot's voice on the phone. Relieved, Murphy got up and went to the bathroom. After freshening up, he returned to the bedroom, dressed in another set of casual men's clothes, and walked out.

"Good morning, dear." He came to Gal Gadot, sitting on the sofa, and kissed her forehead. Gal Gadot raised her hand not holding the phone and pretended to push him away angrily. Murphy raised his hands in surrender and sat down on the adjacent sofa.

"I'm at the hotel, don't worry, I didn't lose it," Gal Gadot said upon seeing Murphy and prepared to end the call, "I gotta go, make sure you train hard and aim for the top three."

After hanging up, Gal Gadot turned to Murphy, "That was Lisa Hewitt from New Zealand. She was worried because I didn't return last night."

Murphy nodded, "Hungry? What do you want for breakfast? I'll order."

"I've already ordered," Gal Gadot stood up, then pulled Murphy to his feet, "It's waiting in the dining room."

After a physically draining night, Murphy felt his stomach growl. Sitting at the dining table, he eagerly opened the lid of the dish she pushed towards him. Inside was oatmeal, a vegetarian sandwich, and a bit of beans – not a trace of meat.

Although not a strict meat-lover, Murphy's first thought after substantial exertion was meat.

"What's wrong?" Gal Gadot noticed Murphy's odd expression and asked, "Don't you like it? I specially ordered a vegetarian breakfast for you."

Hearing this, Murphy realized he might have overlooked something. He checked Gal Gadot's breakfast – a cup of oatmeal and a small portion of vegetable salad with minimal dressing.

She was a consistent vegetarian.

"Don't you like it?" she asked again. During their time together, she had noticed Murphy wasn't particularly fussy about food.

"Of course not." Murphy started eating the sandwich and then voiced his doubt, "Gal, are you a vegetarian?"

"Yes," she nodded, "It's a tradition in my family."

She looked at Murphy, "Have you ever seen me eat meat?"

Murphy thought about it and realized he hadn't. She always ate fruits, vegetables, or meal replacements. He had assumed it was a professional requirement and never considered she might be a vegetarian.

Although he didn't quite understand vegetarians' persistence, Murphy respected others' lifestyles, especially since this person was his girlfriend.

He dropped the topic and brought up another matter, "Gal, you said you'd consider your future plans after the contest. Now that it's over, what do you think?"

"I don't plan to continue in pageants or similar careers," Gal Gadot had clearly thought it through, "I haven't finished my education. I'm planning to apply to a university to study law."

"Are you going back to Israel?" Murphy held her hand across the table, "I can't bear to let you go. A long-distance relationship will drive me crazy."

Gal Gadot looked at Murphy, also not wanting to leave. Murphy's career was in Hollywood. If she went back to Israel, he surely wouldn't follow her. But her family was in Israel, and she never considered settling anywhere else.

"My parents are in Israel," Gal Gadot was conflicted. Before coming to Los Angeles, she had already considered applying to universities, and moreover...

She suddenly shook her head. Murphy, with no Jewish ancestry, couldn't possibly understand their deep-rooted longing for their homeland.

"Gal, I'm not asking you to leave Israel," Murphy truly didn't understand some Jewish beliefs, like their tendency to stick together and their persecution complex, "The U.S. leads in educational resources. Los Angeles has several universities with globally renowned law programs. You could study here."

He thought that distancing her from Israel over time would naturally lessen her desire to return.

Seeing Gal Gadot's hesitation, Murphy continued, "Don't you think the more you learn and the broader the world you experience, the more you can do in the future?"

Hearing this, Gal Gadot seemed to come to a realization, "You're right. If I become an expert, I could contribute more to Israel upon returning."

Murphy was stunned by her complete misinterpretation and somewhat admired Israel's propaganda and education. In a nation where everyone is a soldier, were most people as conscientious as Gal Gadot?

In his eyes, Gal Gadot, who grew up in Israel, had been brainwashed by their vast propaganda machine.

This wasn't good. Murphy thought he should gently correct Gal Gadot's views for their future's sake.

"Gal, could you seriously consider different schools before deciding?" he earnestly requested.

Gal Gadot hesitated but nodded, "Okay, let's tour Los Angeles together."

Her attitude softened, and Murphy seized the opportunity. He called Grace to gather information about Los Angeles universities with law programs, persuading Gal Gadot to move into his Santa Monica home.

Gal Gadot didn't refuse, and as their relationship deepened, so did their affection.

After reviewing the information Grace provided, Murphy and Gal Gadot visited several universities, including UC Berkeley, USC, and even Caltech.

Eventually, with Murphy's help, Gal Gadot decided to spend her university years in Los Angeles, preferably applying to UC Berkeley's law program.

With everything settled, it was time for Gal Gadot to return to Israel to prepare her university applications.

Murphy took her to Los Angeles International Airport, where another friend, Kara Fess, saw her off on the flight to Tel Aviv.

After Gal Gadot's departure, Murphy could focus more on work, preparing for his upcoming engagement with DC Comics.
