Chapter 69: Despair

Rihito, after giving a slight scare to a demon, focused back on where Hearst crashed.

As I waited for her to make her preparations, I sensed the person Tohru was dealing with teleport away, followed by an angry roar and draconic pressure.

"Raaaaa!"

"Sigh, this happens when you get distracted in a fight. Well, at least it will be a good lesson for her." I slightly glanced in Tohru's direction.

I then kept an eye on Tohru to make sure she didn't go berserk. However, it is fine if she vents some frustration.

Right then, I sensed magic fluctuations behind me [Teleportation, again?] I thought. To dodge the incoming attack, I moved forward near the castle and turned around and saw Hearst.

"I told you; I have eyes on my back," I said smiling inside my mask.

"..."

Hearst slightly dishevelled, activated the spell she prepared.

Then two red magic circles activated on her wings, and silver-white feathers started to flutter all over the sky.

Rihito observed those feathers and sensed danger, his instinct warned him. So, he used <Archmage > to identify it.

But before he could find out what it was, he was blocked with rows upon rows of protection, which was hiding the true nature of the spell.

Rihito farrowed his eyes seeing this, "I see, that bastard had put a security system on this magic. So, no one other than his people can use it."

Rihito smiled as he observed the scene and activated his abilities: <Super Human Speed> and <Archmage >. With the help of <Archmage > and his enhanced speed, he quickly analyzed and dismantled all the protective spells in a matter of seconds. Finally, he caught a glimpse of what lay hidden beneath.

Those feathers were imbued with concentrated light magic that breaks things down until nothing is left.

"Disintegration, huh? Nice, I now have another new skill to play." I mentally celebrated.

"Wait, before I get carried away, I should give Tohru a heads-up. I don't want to deal with an angry dragon."

While I was musing to myself, all the fluttering feathers straightened up pointing in my direction. Coated with disintegration magic, they were ready to strike me down with one signal from Hearst.

"Oii, I thought you wanted me alive? I don't think anyone can remain alive after getting hit by these," I said to Hearst pointing at these feathers.

Hearst didn't respond; instead, all the feathers shot towards Rihito from every direction, leaving him no exit in sight.

As the feathers collide with their target, they create a blinding light that blinds anyone who directly looks at it. Except for the light, no explosion was heard.

After the light subsided Rihito and half of the demon castle disappeared.

Hearst seeing the aftermath of Disintegration looked around in confusion, [Where did the vessel go.] she wondered.

Right before the attack had hit, she made sure the attack wouldn't eliminate the vessel completely, in the worst case the vessel would have lost its limbs, but as long as the vessel's heart and brain were functional it would be fine.

She looked around in search of the vessel's body. But to her alarm, she was unable to find it.

"..."

Hearst frowned, "Did I eliminate the vessel?" she asked herself.

As she looked around the castle, she didn't notice her target was slightly standing above looking at her with amusement.

Rihito, [Watching her search around for my body is amusing.]

Before the feathers could hit Rihito, he used teleportation magic to move slightly above Hearst, a blind spot of hers. He then used illusion magic to hide himself and <Presence Assimilation> to conceal his presence. This entire sequence of events was made possible by the blinding light at the end.

Seeing the Hearst panicking visage, he decides to show himself. But before that, someone contacted him through telepathy.

[M-master! Are you alright? You are not hurt, are you?] A frantic voice of Tohru came through telepathy.

Blinking, I answered [Do not worry, I am perfectly fine. An attack like that will never hit me.] I responded in an assuring tone.

Tohru felt relief upon hearing his voice. He was fine; he hadn't died. Saying all that to herself, she tried to calm down. She didn't know what she would do if he suddenly disappeared one day and never came back. The happy days she spent beside him would disappear with him. She couldn't imagine that. She will be back to that lonesome life; she spent till she met him. She hated that; she didn't want that.

[M-master, please, don't do something like this again, please, I don't like this. I thought you died. Sniff.]

"..."

Rihito heard the sobbing voice from Tohru straightened up, guess he had done it now. He got carried away and made her cry. Feeling bad now, he spoke [It's alright Tohru. I am fine. Give me a minute.]

[Umm… sniff…] Tohru responded.

I cut off the telepathy and sighed. "Guess playtime is over."

With that, Rihito stopped playing around and revealed himself.

Hearst suddenly sensed a presence above her, hurriedly made a distance to not get attacked, and saw the vessel standing, "There you are." Unknown to Hearst, she, who thought of herself as an emotionless warrior, showed many emotions of relief and happiness.

"I knew it. I didn't kill you. Now surrender," she said, both of her blades glowed with silver light, a clear indication that they were coated with Disintegration. She then shot towards him with more speed, about five times, and even more silverish light.

"..."

"She is using <Overload >," Rihito muttered.

Hearst swang her left arm and tried to decapitate his waist with the blade. But before that could happen her left arm for some reason disappeared. She didn't know what happened. It was just there a moment ago, where did it go? She was confused. She didn't understand.

"Confused, are you?" the cold voice of Rihito came.

Hearing that voice Hearst looked and saw the vessel was holding one of her swords. "You! You did this." her monotone voice came out resentfully.

"Hmm…" checking the great sword he responded. "Ahh, you mean your arm. Yes, I did, and I will be keeping the swords. So, bye-bye," Saying that he disappeared again.

Then the next thing she knew her right hand also disappeared, and she was completely helpless to react, even with <Overload > she couldn't react.

"I will be taking this as well," he said storing the other orichalcum sword in his <Item Box>.

Hearst now standing with no arms felt utter horror of helplessness.

"Next will be your left leg," Rihito disappeared again.

"Stop!" Hearst shouted and tried to get away. But it didn't help. Her left leg disappeared.

"Next, the right leg."

Hearing that Hearst for her survival deployed the wide range of Disintegration all around her through her wings.

"It is futile, the cold voice came."

Hearst, locating the voice, fired all the silverish feathers in the direction and saw the vessel standing there. Seeing him standing there, she smiled cruelly, "Die!" She ignored her orders from her god and decided to get rid of him. She would explain the situation to him so he would understand, and she was also willing to take any punishment her god desired. Thinking all this, she eagerly watched.

But things didn't turn out how she wanted.

Rihito seeing the feathers heading his way punched. By the looks of things, it was a normal punch. But with <Shockwave Manipulation> and <Shockwave Blast>. He created a strong shockwave that blasted away all the feathers.

Hearst seeing this was flabbergasted, "No, no! It cannot be." As she howled her right leg was gone.

"Now, next is your life," Rihito said as his smile curled.

Hearst heard those words and for the first time in her long life, she felt terror.

"Noooo!" feeling the overwhelming terror she protected her remaining body with her wings. Only to get stabbed from her wide-open back.

Rihito stabbed Muramasa from her back and it came out from Hearst's chest shattering her core. She was about to die, but before that, Rihito whispered.

"Feel the despair and die savouring it."

"Damn you! Remember this, my god will claim Yo…" With those as her last words, Hearst died.

"..."

Rihito sees the life slip out of her body, or should I say a dead body? Whatever, first I took off all the orichalcum equipment, then, I obliterated her remaining body and with that, a minute ended.

I then hurriedly appeared in front of Tohru.

I saw Tohru standing in her humanoid form.

Tohru upon noting me leaped at me and started to check whether or not I got hurt.

"Tohru, I already said, I didn't get hurt."

Tohru ignored my response and still checked, finally finding no wounds she was satisfied.

She then glared at me with slight resentment, "Master, please never do that again. I-I don't want you to disappear." She grabbed onto my coat as her voice quivered at the end.

"Sniff, sniff…"

Seeing her reddened eyes with tears, he couldn't say anything and agreed, "Alright, I won't do something like that without informing you guys. Now, can you please stop crying?"

Tohru, right then thought of something and smiled, "Also you will eat my meat."

"..."

"..."

Rihito now sweating inside and hiding his emotions said, "Huh? What do you mean? Haven't I already eaten that?"

Tohru again glared at me and said, "Do you think I won't know you've been secretly stashing those somewhere."

"..."

[How did she know that? I have been extremely careful while storing them.] Thinking this Rihito's back started to sweat.

"So, what the answer Master~"

"Fine, I will eat it, but at least tell me why you want me to eat… that. You know, for me it's very weird and uncomfortable to eat one of your body parts."

Tohru without saying anything turned around hiding her red face and muttered in a low voice, "You know, I would have done it in another way. If only I was able to visit my world. It would have been a lot easier."

Rihito with his enhanced senses heard all that but didn't understand the context of what Tohru was talking about. Ignoring all that he pushed for an answer, "Tohru."

Tohru recovering from the blush said, "You will know when you eat it, I won't tell you." she stubbornly denied.

Rihito sighed, "Fine, then you better tell me, after I eat that, you hear me."

"Yah~" Tohru accepted.

Now let's clean up we need to head back.
