Since her adventure in Armital, Cacey had been experiencing a series of strange phenomena that were inexplicable. The ghostly attack, then the faceless ghost, and then how she survived with an acrobatic move that would have been otherwise absolutely impossible for her—everything was so supernatural.

So, when her senses signaled danger, her body reacted on its own. There was no way for her to know where the danger was coming from. But Tom could tell. His face was the first danger signal for Cacey, and later, what happened, she could not explain. She would never be able to explain.
