CH. 2: It Was A Demon

It was a demon!

The demon stared at the nervous Aiden, suddenly letting out an eerie laugh. "Hehehe, I'm so lucky to run into a human in such a remote place."

After speaking, it licked its lips while its eyes kept scanning Aiden's body, seemingly pondering where would be the best place to start eating.

Seeing this demon, Aiden's first reaction was to try out his sword.

But he quickly realized that he did not know how to use his sword. Without knowing that, the Demon Blade Senjin would just be an ordinary sword, perhaps even slightly inferior to a normal sword in hardness.

What frustrated him even more was that he was just an ordinary person, how would he have the strength or know a technique to wield this sword?

Aiden tried contacting the system. "Hey system...could you lend me a few minutes...no, a few seconds of god mode to one-shot this demon and let me restart? Please?"

But unfortunately, the system didn't seem to want to respond to him.

Sensing Aiden's despair, the Demon slowly approached him, wanting to fully enjoy the despairing expression of its prey.

Suddenly, Aiden looked behind the demon with a hopeful expression on his face.

The Demon was startled, could there be someone behind it?

It quickly turned back, but there was nothing there.

Aiden seized the opportunity and started running away.

"Damn food, you actually dare to trick me!"

Realizing it had been tricked, the furious demon immediately chased after him. It was determined to capture this human, and make him watch as his body was eaten bit by bit!

Even though Aiden had returned to his peak physical condition at 19, his physical abilities were still only a bit better than an average person's.

He almost got caught by the Demon several times, and only managed to escape by nimbly maneuvering around the surrounding trees.

But after all, he was still human, he couldn't compare to a demon with seemingly infinite stamina.

The moment he showed signs of fatigue, the demon seized the opportunity and charged at him, kicking him down.

He only felt something hard smash heavily into his back, his whole body tumbled forward uncontrollably several rolls.

"Damned food, keep running!"

The enraged demon kicked out again, its foot fiercely kicking his chest just as he was trying to get up.

This time Aiden flew even further, and faintly heard the sound of bones cracking.

Cough

cough

cough!

He coughed incessantly, looking at the approaching ghost, he forced himself to stand up.

There was no other way, it was time for an all out gamble!

The good news at least was that this was just a low level demon without any blood demon arts.

At this moment, the demon across from him suddenly roared and charged at him.

Aiden immediately raised the scabbard to block the incoming claws.

But even so, he was still pushed back by the powerful force, directly colliding with the tree trunk behind him.

Looking at the frenzied demon in front of him, Aiden could only take a gamble.

His hand tightly gripping the hilt suddenly drew the sword out, finally revealing the complete form of the Demon Blade Senjin.

The faintly glowing blue blade shimmered gently in the moonlight, the striped pattern on the blue blade seemed illusory and dreamlike.

Unfortunately he had no time to appreciate it now. After drawing the blade, he fiercely stabbed it towards the demon's neck.

The blade went halfway in, and the demon immediately let out a painful wail.

But Aiden did not stop, seizing the moment when the pressure on his hand lessened, he fiercely twisted the blade.

The demon's neck was immediately half severed!

Seeing the demon stumble back clutching its nearly decapitated neck, he gave it no time to catch its breath.

He immediately pounced at the opponent, knocking the ghost down while using the momentum to pin its neck under the blade.

Giving it no chance to react, he fiercely slapped the back of the Demon Blade Senjin with his palm!

As if hammering a nail, under the force of the Demon Blade Senjin, he instantly sliced down a few centimeters into the demon's neck.

The demon let out agonized roars from the pain, its arms flailing uncontrollably in the air, blood gushing from the wound and splattering onto Aiden's hands and clothes.

But he absolutely dared not stop, because if he gave this monster a chance to recover, the one dying could be him instead.

Chop!

Chop!

Chop again!

No matter how the monster howled, no matter how the blood splashed on his face, no matter how sore his arms were, Aiden did not dare pause for a moment.

Finally! With a "crack" sound - The blade broke!?

He was stunned for half a second, then quickly continued slapping the remaining blade still stuck in the demon's neck.

The Demon Blade Senjin was originally composed of over a thousand fragment pieces, without aura to hold it together it simply couldn't maintain a solid form.

Luckily the blade stuck in the demon's neck was unaffected.

By now, only a fifth of the neck remained attached. The demon started begging. "Please spare me! I swear I'll never eat humans again! I can even turn you into a demon! I will give you the eternal life and will let you serve the eminent one! Please!"

Aiden completely disbelieved its words, if he stopped it might get its neck snapped in an instant.

Unfortunately he had no extra energy to mock it now, he could only use his remaining strength to repeatedly slap the back of the blade.

Finally, after his relentless efforts, the demon's neck was completely severed by him!

The demon's head also rolled off to the side. He propped himself up to fiercely stab the half blade into the demon's skull.

He remembered a demon couldn't be killed unless its head was chopped off by a nichirin sword which was created by a sun ore.

Aiden didn't know if the Demon Blade Senjin had this trait, just to be safe, he had to restrain the opponent first.

Worst case he could just leave it until sunrise and let the sun incinerate it into nothingness!

But to his pleasant surprise, the decapitated demon's body started slowly dissipating.

This allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief, to think Demon Blade Senjin could do this!

'Looks like the system give this blade to me purposefully.'

Seeming to also notice its condition, the ghost started screaming in despair: "Bastard, bastard, bastard! I won't let you off even if I become a demon again!"

You're already a Demon...

Aiden silently retorted in his mind.

He really was exhausted now, otherwise he would have definitely made this demon experience the verbal finesse of the 21st century.

Finally, when the demon fully dissipated, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Pulling out the half blade stuck in the ground, and picking up the other broken half, he tentatively placed the two broken ends together.

Before they even fully touched, the two blades immediately attracted together like magnets.

The blade instantly became whole again, with no visible traces at all.

He was a bit surprised, it seems maintaining the Demon Blade Senjin was easier than he imagined.

"Oh my, this is the first time I've seen such a magical blade!"

A gentle, tender voice suddenly sounded next to his ear.

Aiden stared blankly, seeming to realize something. He immediately leapt away from his original spot, looking towards the person who had suddenly appeared behind him.

It was a female wearing a white haori, with deep purple irises and hair color, and a butterfly hairpin pinned to the back of her head. She was looking at Aiden with a smiling expression.

That beautiful and familiar face made his heart involuntarily clench.
