Have Some Dignity

Sarah's POV:

I washed my hands before walking to the door. "The maids found it difficult with the design; I will go now." I increased my pace and walked upstairs quickly.

They must be suspicious of me; I didn't mean to do that. Why did I have to go to the kitchen in the first place? I am not a low-class girl now; I am Elma Wistold.

Then I remembered the kids' medical reports; I had promised Anthony I would get them today. So I better freshen up.

After taking a warm bath, I walked to the closet and wondered what to wear. She didn't write a note for the type of dress to wear to the hospital.

So I made a random selection; this blue straight skirt will look beautiful on a white top.

After dressing, I brushed my hair and held it in a ponytail before dialing Elma's number.

She declined my call and later called back, but this time it was a video call.

I scoffed before accepting the call. "Hello, love," she said with a smile, then her eyes widened in shock, and she approached the camera.

"Did you just do a ponytail with my hair?" She asked, and I was confused. What was wrong with a ponytail?

"Well, today is a good day, and I don't want to get upset. So what you will do is undo that, brush my hair, and let it be."

It was my hair and not hers, and besides, I didn't call for that. "Please stop talking and tell me where you were supposed to get the medical reports, which you didn't."

"Oh, that… Don't bother; Anthony will get it himself," she answered before putting on her sunglasses.

"Just tell me" what was her problem?

"Go to Yves hospital and meet Doctor James; he is so hot, so dress well... Don't forget you are single at the age of thirty-two, so this might be your chance," she said mockingly before sipping from her cocoa coffee.

She is baffling; I might be thirty-two, but I look so young, like I was twenty, and it's never too late to find a husband. Well, I dedicated so much of my youth to taking care of my family that I lost track of time.

"Bye." I ended the call before undoing the ponytail, and then I walked downstairs when I saw the maids carrying a jar of juice and some glasses to the patio.

What was happening there?

So I walked to the door and took a peek outside. I spotted Kim and her friends; they were taking pictures of the cake I made.

"You need to give us the name of the bakery that designed this," one of her female friends said, and I smiled. I am glad they liked it.

"Umm, my maids did it," she answered. Why did she have to lie about it? Well, the maids did it, and all I did was decorate it.

I walked out, and they all stared at me. "Mrs. Wistold, good day." They greeted me, and Kim had a nervous look. Why did she look nervous seeing me?

Then I thought of the guy on the bike. There were a few guys present, but they didn't match the guy's figure I saw.

"Can I join?" Josh walked toward Kim and her friends.

"Of course not," she sneered at him.

"You can come with me," I said, I needed some help at the hospital since I didn't know who Dr. James was.

"Really?" he asked in a surprised tone, and I nodded before extending my hand for him to take.

"Can I hold your hands for real?" Josh questioned; literally, he was my kid since I was playing the role of Elma, so what's wrong with him holding my hand?

"Don't be silly," I said, and he held my hand before we both walked to the car and the driver drove out.

"Josh," I called, and he looked at me.

"Does Elma do these types of hangouts every time?" I was curious.

"No, but today is the day they go to the gala with their parents, so they always meet up to discuss the events that will take place," he explained, and I nodded. We didn't have a parent-student gala in my school, so I couldn't understand this.

"But Kim organized it; why?" There were a lot of kids who could organize the meet-up; why did she have to be the one?

"Don't tell her I said this, but she is a kind of arrogant queen bee at her school. Everything goes her way."

That was quite a reputation; indeed, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

We finally arrived at the hospital and walked to the elevator as per Josh's guide. The elevator took us to the second floor, and he kept directing me till we arrived at the doctor's office, and I knocked.

"One minute," his voice came from inside. Suddenly, the door pulled open, and Anthony stood there dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans. When did he come here?

"You. " I had promised to come take the reports today, so why did he show up without telling me?

"Dad" Josh smiled at him, and I felt like cursing, but that wasn't my thing. If he was going to come here himself, then why didn't he tell me?

"I am shocked; you showed up," he said in a non-apologetic tone, but in a sarcastic one. How does he sleep at night after talking rudely to his wife?

"Mrs. Wistold, looking pretty as usual," the doctor said, and I smiled at him. Elma was right in one thing. He was very hot and handsome in that lab jacket of his.

"Thanks," I smiled at him, then he extended his hand for a handshake.

"It's my pleasure meeting you again," he winked at me, and I was confused. I was about to accept his handshake when Anthony grabbed my hand.

"Thanks for the report; come on, Josh. Let's go." He dragged me out of there, and I almost lost my balance.

"Hey, stop" I pulled my hand away from him. What was his problem, geez?

"If you don't have some respect for yourself, at least have some dignity when your son is around," he scolded, and I frowned. What did I do this time around? Or should I say, what did Elma do?
