Grateful

It was just as Anna said. She fell in love with Constantine at first sight and pursued him. Initially, Constantine rejected her, but eventually, they clicked, and he couldn't leave her once he understood her importance to Zane.

Constantine's misunderstanding of Zane's personality had led him astray. While Zane could be tyrannical towards those who displeased him, he was incredibly kind to his family. But Constantine didn't know this, and Anna, without realizing it, had been influenced by his perception, leading to the current situation.

Isn't it funny? No wonder Zane couldn't help but laugh at the sight of them acting like they were about to face their doom.

"Boss, you're not mad at me?" Constantine asked, uncertain.

"Why would I be mad? I've been hoping you and Anna would get together!" Zane was baffled by Constantine's question.

"Why are you both so nervous when you see me?" Zane asked curiously, with Lorna joining in to see their reaction.

When Constantine explained his fears, Zane was thoroughly amused. He had never encountered anyone with such a misplaced sense of persecution. It was as if Constantine had been fighting imaginary battles.

"Don't worry, I'm not mad at you. In fact, I'm grateful you married Anna," Zane said with a wry smile.

Lorna, hearing Constantine's skewed perception of Zane, laughed so hard she rolled around on the couch. Once it was clear Zane wasn't angry, Constantine and Anna relaxed, though a new question arose: why would Zane be grateful?

"Boss, it's enough that you're not mad. Why would you be grateful?" Constantine asked, puzzled.

Zane smiled but didn't answer directly. Instead, he looked at Anna.

"Anna, I know you want a normal life, but you only have a century to live. Meanwhile, your husband is my subordinate god, and theoretically, as long as I live, his life is infinite."

Hearing this, the worry Anna had been hiding finally surfaced. She had only a hundred years to live, even if Constantine extended her life by decades with his divine power. Their relationship seemed doomed from the start, a thought that had crossed her mind during lonely nights. But love doesn't heed logic, and once she fell in love, nothing else mattered.

Seeing Anna's distressed expression, Constantine grew anxious and looked pleadingly at Zane. He believed Zane could resolve their issue.

"I can give you eternal life now, do you want it?" Zane asked Anna with a smile. This was why Zane was grateful to Constantine. He didn't want to see Anna pass away, nor could he interfere with her pursuit of a normal life. Now, with Constantine as the mediator, everything could be resolved.

Hearing Zane's offer, joy flashed in Anna's eyes, followed by hesitation. After a brief struggle, she chose what Zane had hoped for. Life with Constantine was the life she wanted.

When Anna nodded, Zane smiled and activated [River of Death]...

(An: This is not giving away a female character! I mentioned from the beginning that Zane and Anna were never going to be a couple, and Anna isn't even pretty! Please don't misunderstand, everyone!)

Instantly, hundreds of white rays of light entered Anna's body. She experienced a time reversal, returning to the prime of her youth. Constantine, watching from the side, was overjoyed and repeatedly bowed to Zane in gratitude.

"Thank you, Boss. Thank you, Boss..."

Seeing Constantine still somewhat restrained around him, Zane helplessly waved his hand, indicating he didn't need to be so formal.

Then he smiled at the rejuvenated Anna and said, "Alright, now let's get down to business. Did you bring the groceries I asked for?"

"Yes, yes." Anna said, nudging Constantine.

Constantine suddenly remembered and ran outside, returning with several bags of groceries from the car's trunk.

They had been so nervous they had forgotten about it earlier. Seeing the bags filled with his and Lorna's favorite foods, Zane felt nostalgic.

"Thank you," Zane said earnestly to Anna.

"You all relax, I'll go cook."

Taking the bags from Constantine, Zane headed to the kitchen. Watching him, Lorna subconsciously licked her lips. Since leaving Earth, Zane hadn't cooked much. Despite the countless delicacies in the galaxy, and even those surpassing Zane's cooking, she still craved his meals.

Rocket was stunned to see Zane, apron-clad and preparing food like a househusband.

"Zane can cook?" Rocket exclaimed in surprise.

"Yes, his food is delicious," Bastis scoffed, thinking Rocket's reaction was over the top. But Rocket couldn't believe it. The sight of Zane, who could destroy civilizations, cooking was beyond his imagination. Even Constantine was amazed. Though he had heard Anna mention Zane's cooking skills, seeing it was still surprising.

Seeing Anna and Constantine's slightly awkward reunion, Lorna took the initiative to act as hostess. She pulled Anna to the sofa, chatting about women's gossip. She was curious how Anna, known for being a good girl, fell for a rogue like Constantine and made him so devoted.

Women are remarkable creatures. After a few words, Anna and Lorna, who hadn't seen each other for five years, were chatting enthusiastically. Glancing at Constantine awkwardly chatting with Rocket, they giggled, clearly sharing private jokes.

Half an hour later, as Zane wiped his hands and looked at the gathered family, a fatherly smile appeared on his face.
