He is a friend from work. (did you get the reference?)

Even the majority of the ships in the second layer lost control, emitting black smoke as they plummeted towards the city below.

They turned into bright fireballs, adding more chaos to an already chaotic city.

In fact, Skynet had long detected the actions of the Nova Corps.

The reason Skynet still aimed at that city was simply to test the power of the auxiliary cannon.

Since the Ark was built, it had never fired before, with only theoretical data available.

So running a test was necessary, and of course, it was done with Zane's permission.

Now, it seemed that with the power boost from the Power Stone, the auxiliary cannon's attack was far beyond Skynet's expectations.

The final, extraordinary explosion far exceeded the cannon's theoretical maximum.

As the auxiliary cannon began recharging, the girl received another urgent message.

"Mr. Zane, they've arrived, they've arrived!" the girl stood up and shouted excitedly.

Only then did Zane turn his head to look at her and said to Skynet:

"Skynet, confirm!"

"Yes, boss!"

In just two seconds, Skynet had the answer.

"Boss, the ship carrying Rocket and Groot has broken through Xandar's atmosphere and is on its way here."

As soon as Skynet finished speaking, a medium-sized spaceship appeared in the sky above Zane, accompanied by sonic booms.

In the next moment, it streaked across the sky and hovered above Zane, a tractor beam shining directly in front of him.

The figures inside were Groot and Rocket, who sat on his shoulder.

"Hey, Zane."

"I am Groot."

Rocket and Groot greeted Zane awkwardly.

Seeing them unharmed, the coldness on Zane's face eased slightly.

"You two, always causing trouble wherever you go."

"Hehe, some crazy chick attacked me, I couldn't just stand there and take it. Things got out of hand during the fight," Rocket said awkwardly, scratching the back of his head, looking like a child being scolded by a parent.

Groot also looked down, avoiding Zane's eyes.

"I am Groot."

"Uh... Mr. Zane, now that the people you wanted have returned safely, could we consider this matter settled?" asked the prison warden who had come down with Rocket and Groot, speaking respectfully.

"Did I say you could speak?" A cold glint flashed in Zane's eyes.

Instantly, the warden felt as if some terrifying presence was staring at him.

It felt like he had been thrown naked into the Arctic, his fear making it difficult to breathe.

In just one second, the warden was drenched in cold sweat, as if he had just been fished out of water.

"Skynet, how long did it take for Rocket and Groot to get back?" Zane asked.

"Boss, it took 30 minutes and 42 seconds."

"Got it. Continue firing!"

Instantly, the fully charged auxiliary cannon emitted a dazzling light again.

In the next moment, under the warden's trembling gaze, the Ark fired another bright energy beam.

As expected by Skynet's calculations, the Nova Corps' energy shield blocked the auxiliary cannon's attack again.

But the price was total annihilation of the Nova Corps!

The sole military force of Xandar became history at that moment.

And it wasn't over yet. The auxiliary cannon, now extremely hot from continuous firing, began charging again.

At this moment, a voice suddenly came from the kneeling warden.

"Mr. Zane, please wait. If you have any demands, just let us know. We will do our best to satisfy you."

Zane waved his hand, signaling Skynet to halt the attack temporarily, and used his power over death to retrieve the communicator from the warden.

"Tell your highest leader to come here and speak to me! Remember, I'm giving you only five minutes!"

With that, Zane crushed the communicator, not giving the other side a chance to respond.

During this time, Rocket learned from the unlucky girl about everything Zane had done after they were captured.

His first reaction was deep gratitude.

If someone was willing to threaten an entire civilization for you, you'd have to be incredibly ungrateful not to be moved.

At this point, if Zane asked Rocket to single-handedly challenge Ronan, Rocket would pick up his gun and charge in without hesitation.

The feeling of loyalty to a benefactor wasn't something everyone could understand.

Rocket's second reaction was shock, shock at Zane's power and audacity.

It seemed he had underestimated Zane's prowess. For one man to oppress an entire cosmic civilization alone was something Rocket had only heard in legends told by drunken Ravagers.

But now, it was happening right before his eyes.

He couldn't help but be astounded.

As for whether Rocket thought Zane had gone too far?

Sorry, that wasn't a concern at all.

Rocket wasn't sentimental. If someone sentenced you to death, why would you sympathize with them in return?

That would be utterly foolish!

Four minutes later, an ornate ship arrived above Zane and his group.

A middle-aged man in luxurious attire appeared before them.

"Mr. Zane, I am the highest leader of the Xandar civilization. What can we do to quell your anger?"

The highest leader approached Zane respectfully.

"I want nothing from you. There's nothing in your civilization that interests me," Zane said calmly.

The highest leader was left speechless.

This was awkward. He had hoped for some demands. How was he supposed to respond?

"It's actually quite simple to end this," Zane continued.

"Mr. Zane, please tell us. As long as it's within our power, we will make sure you are satisfied."

Seeing a chance for negotiation, the highest leader's eyes lit up with hope.

If the city was destroyed, he wouldn't be able to remain the highest leader.

During his tenure, such a disaster would make him a notorious figure in Xandar's history, condemned by future generations.

People live for fame and fortune. He had reached the peak of power and wealth and now sought lasting fame.

He couldn't let this happen.

But he failed to notice the malicious smile on Zane's face.

"Alright, since you're so sincere, it wouldn't be fair to make things difficult for you," Zane said, smiling brightly.

The nervous highest leader nodded quickly, waiting for Zane's demands.
