Starting The Mission

(Selene's Perspective)

My life had been a tough one, one filled with bloodshed, gore, torture, rape... It was all I had ever known and it had changed me. Blood was but something to season your life with, life inconsequential to the infinity that was death. I myself had fallen prey to the dreariness of immortal life without purpose. My view was skewed, warped, twisted into something monster-like, something maleficent and malicious. I enjoyed the subtleties of my enemies screams and tribulations . Each pained cry, sob, outburst, effort, sustenance for my every expanding hunger for something different.

I had realised soon after I had met Emelia that there was something new, something different. Not only was the woman particularly powerful which set my M side off a little touch, it was the fact that around her were the happy faces of heroes and people. Her smile was as if a the sun after a light rain, bright and warming. I hadn't realised it back then but now that I recall it, five to six years later, it was probably the moment i decided to change... If only to get closer to her and that warmth.

Well, luckily for me my efforts were worth it as I spent the next few months and a lot of time checking out her past and history, that could be found. She was a clean slate and was honestly spookily absent from history despite the immortality I could feel within her, at the time. Now i understand that she was from another multiverse entirely and had reincarnated, all of us knew now as she had revealed her past to us when her sister Elina came to stay within Atlantis. I hadn't really cared for all that shit though, I only cared about her and being together.

Not too long ago she had accepted me and sent me on a mission. It sounded bad at first, kind of like a bad 80's villain, but honestly she was just way too busy all the time. She was juggling 23 children, which was a maddening number that I think only she could handle fully, plus her job as the leader of an entire planet, plus her responsibility for the multiverse as a primordial and now she was struggling with updating our technology and boosting the power of the entirety of Humanity. I didn't know if she could be considered a workaholic, but she was the woman I loved so... Apparently I go and slay the other members of my secret order of immortals.

Beside me was Fleur, a rather pretty woman with considerable youth and lovely dimples on the side of her face. She was a rather shy woman for everyone except Emelia, even now she was standing behind me somewhat as she was nervously fidgeting.

"You need to calm down darling... Were only going to meet up with this Captain America."

"Don't you know who he is? He is like the most popular superhero behind Emelia and Tony!"

"Hehe, and you're married to Emelia... So just chill, you are way more powerful than him."

She still didn't listen to me, i rolled my eyes and simply continue to walk through the corridors of Shield Headquarters. The new headquarters was placed on a floating Island within Atlantis, its structure looking positively powerful as multiple tower segments floated and had portals connecting different areas. To a newcomer it would be disorientating, but for me it was a pleasant walk on a Sunday.

"Do, you know where we are going?"

"Mhm, unlike you I've been alive for many centuries and my senses have expanded." I continued to walk as i followed the trace energy signatures of the 'Captain' and the leader of the 'Shield' Fury. In minutes I walked into a room where a spangled-dressed man sat opposite of a modern pirate. Life was surprising ever since i met Emelia, this was certainly an example of that.

"My, my, if it isn't the Queen's wives themselves..." The pirate was rather chipper despite his mood disposition and the spangled one turned to look at us with a small amount of shock. 'Maybe Emelia sent Fleur with me for us to bond and for her to break out of her shell?' I pondered, not focusing on the people in the room.

Silence was what told me that they expected me to say something, i sighed and acquiesced to social norms. "Yes, hello, I am Selene, this is Fleur. We were asked to help you all defeat my brothers and sister, the externals." They looked between each other before shaking their heads in a little laugh. 'Men, why do they always do that with me?'

"Very well Selene, could you please tell us of the most pertinent information."

From there I spoke to them about Apocalypse, Candra, Crule, Absalom, Saul, Burke, Gideon and Nicodemus. I listed their powers, the aptitude for damage and danger. Threat to their surroundings, it was a long interview so to speak. I was already wanting to kill someone, maybe torture a villain or two by the end of it.

"Um, maybe it would be possible to track them magically and place curses on them from a distance?" I turned to look at the diminutive Fleur who was sweating as we all turned to look at her. The idea was brilliant and would save me a lot of hassle if it worked, the issue being 'if' it worked.

"Good idea my sister, we will do this your way. Perhaps we could meet Emelia's master and discuss the potency of said magics." She nodded with a small smile on her lips the pirate and spangle man were both shocked by the idea and the efficiency with which we had decided a path but they were not game to try and countermand our ideas. The perks of being wives to Emelia, i suppose.

With that Fleur began to swirl her wand, useless thing that it was, and brought us to a far off land called Tibet. I had only been here around the time period of Genghis Khan, it was a small run-down village back then with very little in the way of amenities. Today however, it seemed very lively and the city streets thrummed with activity. Fleur and I knew about this place because Emelia once spoke about her master's personal abode outside of the school where she spends time relaxing.

I had been to the Kamar-Taj at one stage, long before Yao became Sorceress Supreme, she really was a prodigy in her craft, her master was certainly a powerful wizard... 'I wonder what happened to good old Callisto... Did he ever get rid of that awful fake name?' My thoughts were hazy as we moved towards the outskirts of the village. I had to clear my mind every now and then as past lives and experiences tended to leap to the surface.

"We're here."

I stopped and looked at the nondescript building that were the prime residence of one of the most powerful sorcerers on Earth, i mean Terra, 'I'm not ever going to get used to the change.'
