Chapter 249: A Mysterious Ability

"What's this shiny thing?"

Lumine, Paimon, and Hu Tao's pupils reflected the golden starlight cluster in Nolan's hand, their fair faces bathed in a brilliant golden glow.

"I've mentioned before that every time I grow stronger, I might awaken new abilities," Nolan said, glancing at Lumine and Paimon before continuing.

"This thing is called a 'Waymark,' an offshoot of one of my abilities called 'Interstellar Travel.'

"It can merge into someone else's body, and those who possess a 'Waymark' can sense others with the same mark, allowing them to communicate across any distance or even teleport to each other's location."

Essentially, anyone with a 'Waymark' gains limited access to Nolan's 'Interstellar Travel' ability.

"This thing is really that powerful?" Hu Tao said, crossing her arms in surprise.

"I see, but how do we use this shiny thing to escape from here?" Paimon understood but wasn't sure how to apply it to their escape.

"You're not thinking of going invisible and running out, then using the Waymark's teleportation ability to have us follow you, are you?" Lumine guessed Nolan's plan.

Having spent so much time with him, she had become familiar with his personality and thought process.

Nolan nodded. With his speed, once he was invisible and with Lumine and Hu Tao covering him, he was confident he could make it out.

"That's about right, but the problem is, once I run out, this wind-element shield will no longer have my elemental power to sustain it.

"At most, it'll last another two or three seconds before it naturally disappears. You'll need to be ready to teleport at any moment," Nolan cautioned.

"Hmm, two or three seconds should be enough. So, how do we use this interesting thing?" Hu Tao nodded slightly, raising her hand to touch the light cluster in Nolan's hand, finding that her fingers passed through it like it wasn't really there.

"You need my permission to touch it," Nolan said, giving Hu Tao access to the Waymark. The golden light cluster floated up and gently drifted towards the girl in front of him.

Under Hu Tao's curious gaze, it slowly merged into her chest.

"And that's it?"

Hu Tao tilted her head down slightly, looking at the spot where the golden light cluster had just merged. She raised her right hand to press against her clothes but found nothing unusual.

"Yes, now you should be able to sense my location and even try teleporting to my side," Nolan replied with a nod.

At his words, Hu Tao attempted to sense Nolan's position. Sure enough, the moment she had the thought, his location information appeared in her mind.

Nolan summoned two more "Waymarks" and sent them into Lumine and Paimon's bodies.

They then spent a few more minutes testing and familiarizing themselves with the teleportation ability, mainly focusing on sensing each other and moving to one another's location.

Since they only had a two to three-second window to act, this practice was essential. Especially for Paimon, who wasn't a fighter, it was crucial to repeat the process several times until it became instinctive.

"Alright, is everyone ready? I'm about to make a run for it."

Nolan felt his elemental power nearing exhaustion. If they didn't act soon, they'd lose the opportunity, so there was no more time to waste.

"Don't worry, we're good to go," Hu Tao said, patting her chest. Lumine and Paimon also nodded solemnly, fully prepared.

Nolan nodded in acknowledgment. He shifted his body to the left, lowering his center of gravity into a running stance. Then, he activated his "Stealth Mode," disappearing from sight.

Lumine and Hu Tao quickly launched elemental attacks upward, not targeting the green-eyed ravens, but rather the fireballs they were spitting out, to give Nolan some cover.

This way, the fireballs wouldn't accidentally hit him and break his stealth.

As soon as they blocked the attack, Nolan opened a small gap in the wind-element shield and dashed out at top speed.

In just two or three seconds, he had already covered hundreds of meters.

Back with the girls, once Nolan had left, the wind-element shield became unstable and quickly dissipated. Just as green fireballs were about to strike them, the three simultaneously requested teleportation to Nolan in their minds.

Nolan, who had been monitoring their situation, immediately approved. The trio vanished just as the fireballs exploded, scattering sparks that corroded the ground into small craters.

The green-eyed ravens screeched angrily, realizing their prey had escaped right under their noses. They scattered, frantically searching the nearby forest for any sign of the humans.

In truth, Nolan and the others hadn't gone far. They were only a few hundred meters away, listening to the ravens squawk as they flew off.

The reason the crows didn't spot them was simple: the moment Hu Tao, Lumine, and Paimon had teleported over, Nolan had immediately activated stealth for all of them.

Unable to find their targets, the crows had no choice but to search elsewhere.

However, Nolan noticed that several dozen crows remained in the area, watching carefully. For now, the group had no choice but to stay hidden.

Fortunately, Nolan's stealth domain could last long enough that they didn't have to worry about being discovered.

"Phew, we made it out! Paimon was so scared when those fireballs almost hit her. Paimon nearly froze up!" Paimon said, still a bit shaken.

"Yeah, same here," Hu Tao exhaled softly, her lips parting slightly. She wasn't used to facing such dangerous situations.
