"U-umm, is it true? That we are no longer poisoned?" The blue-haired girl timidly asked, fiddling with her fingers.
'What is this cute creature!!!' Sam yelled inside Max's head.
'Same thoughts, brother,' Max nodded.
"You are?" Max asked calmly.
"It's Lily, Lily Timber," Lily replied, still acting all cute (In Max and Sam's POV).
"Hello, Lily. And yes, you are all no longer poisoned. How about you all come with me?" Max said and jumped on Hydreilion's back, motioning for them to follow too. From their memories, he learned Hydra has been controlling them by a special poison; it will not harm them as long as they ingest a special substance, and that special substance is in Hydra's hands. Using this, they have been controlling these mutants.
Lily hesitated for a moment, then looked at her fellow mutants. Seeing a nod of approval from some, she cautiously approached Hydreilion and climbed onto its back. The others followed suit, showing a mix of curiosity, fear, and gratitude.
Max, sitting atop Hydreilion, observed them silently. After a moment, he asked, "Why none of you afraid of darkness earlier?"
A black-haired boy among them answered, "We have mostly been imprisoned in dark rooms, so we got accustomed to darkness." Max just nodded, hearing his answer.
He then raised his hand, and a swirling portal appeared beside them.
"Come on through, and welcome to Twilight Isle," Max said with a smile.
The mutants exchanged glances, unsure of what to expect. Lily took a deep breath and led the way through the portal, followed by the others. As the last person stepped through, Max followed, and the portal closed behind them.
Twilight Isle greeted them with its otherworldly beauty. The mutants looked around, marveling at the surroundings.
"Here, let me explain," Max said, projecting a holographic map of Twilight Isle. He detailed the layout of the island, the various facilities, and the peaceful coexistence of different beings.
Lily and the others listened attentively, gradually feeling a sense of relief and safety. Max assured them that they were free to stay on the island and that no harm would come to them.
Max then showed them their rooms, and then all of them gathered inside the discussion or central room.
"Man, I should give this place a proper name; even the narrator sometimes gets confused," Max mumbled and then sat in his chair.
"Now, first of all, Lily, you are now the leader of the small group of mutants." Max said as everyone sat.
Lily nodded, hearing Max's words, and then Max again asked, "What are your powers?"
"I can control water, but can't generate it," Lily replied.
"Hmm, and?" Max
"Just control water," Lily's face turned red all of a sudden.
'We got an endangered species,' Sam said seriously.
'What do you mean?' Max raised an eyebrow, looking at Sam's mental commentary.
'I mean, she's a water bender! You know, like those characters from animated shows. They're rare and cool,' Sam exclaimed, his mental voice reflecting excitement.
Max sighed, 'Sam, we are not in an animated show, and she's not a "water bender."'
'But controlling water is cool! Plus, she is so cute,' Sam insisted.
Max decided not to argue further with Sam's pop culture references. Instead, he turned his attention back to Lily.
"Here, eat this," Max said as he passed her the Siren Mythical Devil Fruit.
Lily looked at the weird-shaped apple in her hands and then back at Max, her teary eyes almost seeming to ask, 'It's not poisoned, right?'
'Stop it, Sam,' Max said as this guy is spouting nonsense.
"I assure you, it's not poisoned. It's a unique fruit that grants you the powers of a mermaid," Max reiterated, trying to dispel any doubts Lily might have.
She hesitated for a moment, contemplating the potential consequences of consuming the magical fruit. However, the allure of acquiring extraordinary abilities won over her reservations.
Lily took a deep breath, took a bite from the Siren Devil Fruit, and instantly felt a surge of magical energy coursing through her body. As the transformation began, her legs fused into a mermaid's tail, and the information about the Devil fruit got imprinted in her mind.
Max raised an eyebrow, seeing her transformation, and thought, 'She is highly compatible with this fruit.'
Others also watched curiously as they saw her lower body becoming a fish tail. The mutants looked at the half-eaten fruit in Lily's hand and then at Max.
Max, who is keeping an eye out, looked at their expressions carefully and found no greed but expectations. 'Saint's Judgement never fails,' he thought mentally, smiling.
"Don't worry; all of you will also be given these magical fruits, as long as you complete some missions of this organization," Max said with a smile.
But the mutants' expressions got gloomy hearing Max.
"Ahem, I never meant to force a mission on all of you like your previous captors. I meant, our organization has a merit-based system. There are tons of missions on the Mission board; there you can take a mission and get the corresponding amount of merits, and then exchange it for various things, not just these magical fruits," Max said.
"We are free to choose our missions?" A girl with long black hair asked.
"Yes, it's totally up to you," Max nodded.
Hearing Max's words, they got excited, and smiles returned to their faces.
"But, you all have to reach at least the 60th floor of the Infinity Tower before you decide to take on a mission," Max said.
"Infinity Tower is the training area of our organization. There, each floor will test your intelligence, decision-making abilities, and very much everything. So strive to work harder and achieve the goal of the 60th floor if you all want to leave this Island," Max explained.
"Hmm," everyone nodded.
"Good," Max said.
After some time, Lily opened her eyes and exclaimed, seeing her lower body, "wahh? I really become a mermaid."
Snap.
"Lily, control your powers," Max said as he snapped to help everyone out. Lily now has the Enchanting voice of the Siren, which charmed everyone inside the room. All the mutants were charmed just now, making everyone in the room charmed by Lily's voice except Lily and Max.
