Chapter 104 : Blood Curse

As the afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows of the Greengrass house, Orion found himself drawn to the genuine warmth and openness of Daphne.

When asked by Daphne how he was suddenly there, he could only answer by saying that because of what happened in Gringotts, he had to cancel many of his plans and thus he came.

It was the best he could come up with right at the spot. Daphne too didn't think too much about it, in fact, she had to get closer to Orion to know more about him anyway.

A soft smile graced Daphne's features, the conversation continued to flow effortlessly as they discussed their favourite magical creatures, shared anecdotes from their Hogwarts years, and exchanged laughter over shared memories. And pretty much all kinds of time passes until either of them truly starts talking about what they really want to talk about.

As the conversation naturally meandered, Orion's curiosity prompted him to ask about Daphne's family, he didn't directly ask about Astoria but this direction was where he wanted to go in the conversation. "Hmm what about your family, I did meet your little sister, she is much like you, polite and beautiful," he said gently, "What about your parents?"

Daphne's expression softened, and she nodded appreciatively at Orion's genuine praise for her sister. She began to unfold the tale of her family – the bonds they shared, the loss they endured, and the strength that kept them together.

[Hmm so both the girls have lost their parents and right now their only guardians are their relatives. No wonder the girl never talks about her family usually or has any particular blood supremacy in her. Seems like the adults who raised her have been a good influence on her].

Orion though suddenly found himself kind of related to Daphne a little more. This was similar to what he felt with Rose. These two girls really do understand the value of family and what hardships are.

Orion listened with empathy, understanding that behind every witch or wizard lay a story of triumphs and tribulations. He learned of the love and guidance Daphne had received from her parents before their untimely departure.

Daphne's father died in the last wizarding war, she never saw her father. While her mother was there to support her and her sister she didn't last for a long time.

Apparently, her mother was from the Greengrass family while her father got married in the family, taking the Greengrass name, others don't know this and it is for the better as he was a muggle born who died in the wizarding war.

Everyone thinks that Daphne is pureblood but the reality is much different. But this has kept her and her sister safe.

Her mother though died because of the blood curse, something which has been passed down to her sister and the symptoms are pretty bad. Worse than her mother.

Of course, Daphne didn't tell all of this to Orion, Orion read her mind. In-home for some reason she wasn't wearing her heirs ring and that was more than enough for Orion to find all this information.

In the quiet moments that followed, Orion delicately broached the topic of their shared losses. "I lost my parents too, well I never knew them in the first place but still," he confessed, "and I know how it can shape us. But it's the strength we find within ourselves and the connections we make along the way that help us carry on. I used to live in a jungle before this believe it or not. There are bad times but if we hold on strong then good times are not that far."

The conversation between Orion and Daphne deepened, there Orion finally felt that Daphne was not trying to steal any of his information. It became a moment of shared vulnerability, fostering a connection that went beyond the magical world they inhabited.

But this was not enough for Orion. To be able to make a medicine to cure Astoria, Orion needs more information.

"Mind if I asked about this Blood Curse Daphne? I am doing much research in this field and maybe I can find a cure for it," Orion offered but it was like a bomb blast inside Daphne's mind.

She didn't register the words as maybe but as Orion had a way.

"Really," Daphne asked with much attention and eagerness.

"Well maybe, I can try." Orion seeing the reaction again said. But this didn't damper her mood at all.

No matter how childish Orion might act sometimes there was no doubt that Orion was a genius. She after spending this much time with Orion, knew that he was more trustworthy then Nick Iron.

Daphne's gaze turned introspective as she began to unravel the intricacies of her family's history. "Orion," she said with a tinge of sadness, "there's a blood curse that has haunted my family for generations. It's a dark legacy that we've struggled to break free from."

She continued, recounting the tragic tale that had befallen her mother. "My mother succumbed to the curse. It's a malevolent magic that we've never fully understood, the dark magic was passed down to us by our ancestor, a legacy that robbed us of her presence. She fought against it for a long time, seeking every magical remedy, but in the end, the curse proved relentless."

Daphne's eyes conveyed a mixture of sorrow and determination. "My sister, Astoria, and I, we carry the weight of this curse, although I don't have to use but.....Astoria, we always wondered if it would rear its head again and unfortunately, it did. My mother's sacrifice and struggle against it serve as a reminder of the battles we face within our own family history."

Orion listened with a heavy heart, empathizing with the challenges Daphne's family had endured while also remembering all the bits of the curse and even sharing mental thoughts with Merlin. The bond they shared through the loss of parents and the burden of familial curses created a unique connection, fostering a deep understanding between them.

Orion, moved by Daphne's strength and resilience, offered a supportive nod. "You and Astoria are incredibly strong witches and believe it, I will find a solution. After all that what are friends for," he said but Daphne just nodded thinking Orion just trying to reassure her, "And don't take me lightly princess, I might be no prince but I am an entrepreneur and and future wizard king. When I give my words, I never go back on them. Believe it."

Orion sounded cheezy but Daphne finally ended up laughing. And that ended his visit to the Greengrass manner.

There are only two days to Christmas. He now has to find a solution to this blood curse somehow.

There was determination on his face as he walked out of Daphne's place.

"Any idea what we are looking for," Orion asked.

[Yes, I have faced this kind of curse before. And good for you and that girl there, I have a solution....] Merlin said.

"And let me guess, there is a huge "BUT" in there, right," Orion asked with a deadpan voice.

[YES]
