FIRST TRIAL

Sebastian's POV

I could not handle waiting outside due to the extreme hot sun rays. I entered the house to sleep but something popped up into my head. The desire to impress my keepers.

Like a dog I was kept and fed by people I din't know or relate to. Just as dogs are useful to their keepers ensuring some security, I had to be useful to mine. I looked at the already weak sticks giving us the little shelter we required and there I was.

Straightening everything picking some dried leaves and grass that'd been stored behind the hut like structure. I looked at my soft hands, seemed like they were gonna train to have life the hardest way ever.

I must have been a terrible child for my dad to decide otherwise with my life. I remembered incidences where my dad and I had always exchanged words but he actually never raised his hands on me.

At that point I loved our rules which were strictly enforced. Parents were not expected to raise their voices at their kids nor hurt them. I could remember the several times my father wanted to bonk me and raise his voice at me but often my mother could remind him to stay away from evey satanic temptations.

According to them I would turn out to be the reason why he fails as the father to our nation. I smiled at his wonderful idea of punishment without actually involving anyone. So the current battle was only mine and his to identify who outsmarts who. But sadly he was too powerful for me to outsmart..

I knew that at that point everyone would have figured out something fishy about my absence. It was so not my style to maintain a low profile. My mind roamed all over and the images of me having fun with the women offered by Quan and Mad flooded my mind.

I took a good look at the house after I was done and nodded approvingly to myself smiling from ear to ear. It looked much better and almost new at that point.

It was already evening and the whether became unbearably frigid as always. I saw Domain's mother approaching from a distance, she looked overly worked up that I suddenly felt pity for her.

I was sure enough that would be my first time to have such feelings towards someone and I couldn't help but rush towards her. Taking away the grass made basket like structure I watched her sit on the stone nearby.

Domain was no where in the picture and for some reason I felt worried for her, is that how she'd always lived her life?

"Is there anything I can do? ma'am." I asked and she smiled showing me the food she'd brought and the fireplace to prepare everything.

Wasting no time, I followed every single instructions she gave me and the food was ready. "I brought enough food for today and tomorrow, no need to go in search of any tomorrow." She said after I assured her that the food was ready.

I stepped my foot outside and it was totally dark but still no sign of Domain's return. Were the two not together? Did she finally find somewhere better than this hell of a place? My eyes drifted back to her sleeping mother, she was probably too weak and tired to be awake.

I had to go in search of her like I'd always protected Myra, nature had given me yet another sister to take care of. I could tell she was younger than me, only looked older because of hard life perhaps.

I walked the huge place in search of Domain, obviously din't shout her out. The place was too silent and I heard that sounds traveled faster at night. I walked further and there I was, every single step I took, the sound of dry bones were heard braking under my feet.

It would be a lie if I said that I din't freak because my heartbeat was so unstable at the moment. My mind roamed towards a certain novel I'd actually read.

// The Queen OF CALAMITY// The monstrous images portrayed by the author begun to display in my mind, I remembered an apocalyptic setting of a novel I'd read online some time back and boom I began to visualize the zombie's.

*******

Meanwhile, Domain was done with her usual physical fitness and her stomach growled. She looked at her miserable self as tears began to roll under her cheeks.

Yes she had been trained to always be of service to the nation but looking at her present status, everything was just so unfair. Why would her own father sacrifice her for crying out loud?

In her secret hidden area secluded by those in authority like her dad, Domain took out her smartphone and began to scroll randomly not knowing what to do.

Her eyes landed on one of her pictures, she smirked at how different they looked. The her at present was so not the Domain in the picture. One thing was clear, surviving in that place meant she would completely loose her beauty.

Her hands landed on her father's contact, she was sure to terminate everything before it was too late. For the passed few days there she'd already resembled the laddies who tortured there biddies on slim possible and she surely looked worse than them.

"The number you have dialed is no longer in service." Domain tried to contact her father several more times but the call din't go through.

She was sure that the battery would soon be dead which meant she would be a captive in that particular Valley until her father and his team would come for there rescue. Considering her current status, stay at that place was indeed risky for her.

Her mind figured out her first time to land on that place. She gave thought how freaked she was. Seeing the bones of probably a century freaked her out. She could see her on skull among those, stepped by other generations who'd also land of that place like she did.

"Organize yourselves dudes, we should leave this place soon before we loose our lives out of hunger." Domain said to the secret team sent out with her.

Her father had assured her that support would be sent to cover for there stay, he assured her of food and clothing at least but nothing had actually been delivered ever since that time.

She was sure that maybe he'd send some supplies over the weekend as agreed but seeing his line no longer in service gave her doubts on whether to fully trust the process.

According to the training she'd undergone for years, trust was always termed a liability. Even though she trusted, being a fool to wait upon death was never her style.

She walked out of the secluded quarters within the area and walked slowly back to the place she called home. Her hands tightly hugging herself. The whether was unbearably frigid and the strong winds swept across the place.

She spotted a figure walking towards her direction and she freaked, her heart pumped vigorously looking at the figure but still kept walking. Her senses alert and ready for any self defense measures.
