After descending a long stair case we finally reach the lowest floor of the base -To think they dwelled so deep... Aren't they afraid of it falling all down?- I say hearing a rumbling noise -Maybe it's more sturdy than you think- he replies, hearing his voice I turn around pointing a torch at his face -You untied it?! When have I gave you permission?- he shakes his head removing the cloth completely and throwing it away with risen shoulders -Thought you might get bored with all this silence, what if you fall asleep?- he rises his eyebrows with a pitiful face -Next time I'll have to tie your hands too I suppose-
-Oh please no, how will I be able to help you then? Or do anything else...- he bangs me against the wall by the shoulder and lower his face in the crook of my neck, looking into my eyes from beneath -... Such as this?- -Enough playing around- I push him to the side and fix up my upper armor -If you think some simple flirting will make me revaluate you, then you're highly mistaken. Now if you excuse me...-
I pass over the room we're in, opening an improvised door that leads inside the main structure. The arch of the door falls down right after touching it -Not very promising... Get ready to evacuate at any moment- I warn him before proceeding inside. In front of me I see 3 identical doors -Why one should we choose?- comes Dong Hu from behind -All- I don't pay him any mind and keep looking ahead -You cannot enter each simultaneously tho, Miss-
-But I can open them all before deciding- I reply and reach my hand on the first doorknob. Behind the first door is a small room, just enough for one person to pass through and 2 more doors on the walls -What?- I rise an eyebrow and behind me I hear Dong laughing. I clench my jaw and head sideways -Let's open the next one- and just as before I find a small room and 2 more doors behind it -This have to be a joke, the third one will most probably be the same- I say before opening it and obviously facing the same result... -Dammit- I enter one room and kick open one door -It can't be real- as the door falls on the ground another room with 2 doors appears behind. I come back and open another door and another them another... Always the same result!
...
-What a twisted game!- I scream coming back at the beginning -Aren't you loosing your cool Miss Ying?- I shoot him dead with my eyes, sighing I calm myself down and get ready to head into a random dope again -What are you doing?- he asks -Going to the other side maybe?- he smirks -And loose all that time in opening tond of door, not knowing which direction you actually took?- -I will find the end eventually if I open them all- he rises his chin amused -Why not taking them all down then? The cave is quite sturdy, look at the stone ceiling-
I follow his gaze -You might be right... Stand back- I warn him, placing my hand on my sword. As I unsheathe him a flaming thunder slashes out and cuts down the whole labyrinth of doors, making the rubble fall down with a wave of dust engulfing us... Once it all settle down I begin to see the other side on the hall -A gate- a cracking sound comes from above our head and we both turn to face upwards. A crack appears on the stones and slowly makes its way toward the center of the hall -Sturdy you say?- he rises his shoulders with nonchalance -Let's go while it still holds up-... Even if we move quickly and don't put too much weight on the floor, it still trembles regularly.
A few meters are left before reaching the other side, some more cracks appears and a small piece of ceiling falls down onto Dong Hu -Watch out!- I warn him but he already dodged it, jumping back a few meters and landing on an unstable piece of stone. Widening my eyes I walk further away from him, almost reaching the other side, rumbles echoes in the hall -You heard that?- he asks and I nod in response -Don't move a finger, we don't know what's underneath us... Even if what worries me more now is the ceiling- while I look at the alarming cracks he takes the sword in hand.
-What are you planning to do exactly...?- -Jump somewhere and hiss myself up with the sword if it start crumbling down- -Are you crazy?! One more jump and we'll be buried alive- I rise my hands and move one more step back -Go into that room then, that walk seems the only thing intact here so it should be safe behind... Be quick, I don't have much time left...- he says as one more piece falls from the ceiling -But...!-
-What? You're worried about me now?- -I'm worried about your stupidity, if it all falls I'll be trapped too- -Pretty sure you'll find a way Miss- I sigh and turn around, one hand up in goodbye -I'll see you back at the camp, unless you die of course- he smirks -The fact that you actually believe that could happen makes me more excited to try- I open the door now in front of me -I'm a soldier and a commander, I simply take everything in consideration when on the battlefield- -Whatever whatever, go now and let me try saving myself here!- I roll my eyes at his yelling and let the door fall shut behind me.
...
Once inside the room I try making one jump to teste the ground stability and it seems fine -If he makes the hall fall I should be safe here...- just as I murmur those words the whole structure begin to shake and the rumbling from behind the door warns me about what just happened. I open back the door out of curiosity, a pitch back hole appears where the floor was just a few seconds before... The dust still lingering around, looking down I don't see the bottom -He must have died, nobody could survive such a fall with stones falling down on you at the same time-
I look at the sides of the hole and still can't see anything -He couldn't hold onto his sword either uhm? So he really did die...- I murmur to myself -Ah who am I lying to, knowing him he still found a way to survive. Damnit- and I go back inside the room... -Back to the mission-.
What about releasing numbered chapters together? I feel like it is smoother to read this way
