Exploring

It was early morning the next day after Jin saw Professor Oak's picture on the news.

Currently he was at the gate of the town that led to the unexplored part of the world.

If he headed out this gate and continued straight there would be nothing but wilderness for months.

Although there was wilderness between the town and regions at least they were clustered enough that with enough traveling in one direction you would eventually find signs of civilization.

Luckily Jin has his navigating map with a search function.

One of the functions of map was that it allowed him to filter things such as biomes, resources, Pokémon, humans, and other items, though it would only show him areas that he has explored with a search field of hundred meters

He filtered only for resources, and Pokémon as it didn't matter about anything else, as he couldn't keep paying attention to the map while in the wilderness.

Though Jin couldn't help but hesitate to take the first step.

Though his hesitation broke as a rough voice resounded through his ears.

"Boy you don't have all day, either go out and die, or come back in and continue living the sappy life you've been living till now."

Jin turned to look at the direction of the sound and saw a rough looking man, probably mid thirties, he is part of the guards that keep watch over the town either patrolling, being guardsmen at the gate, or sentries watching over the wall.

They were equipped with leather armor, few with what seem to be metal guards in some areas of their body, some carried weapons while others didn't but most of all they all had at least one Pokémon by their side.

Hearing jeering and mocking from the soldier, Jin let the anger get the better of him and walked towards the forest.

As the guardsmen watched the boy disappear into the forest

They couldn't help but shake their heads sighing knowing that the boy won't be coming back.

Once in a while a fool would think that they could get their hands on a wild Pokémon and train them.

Although Kanto allowed kids to be trainers at ten and allowed them to travel between towns, not many towns adhered to this rule as the guardsmen would beat any snobbish kid into staying within the town.

Though nothing could be said as it was the captain that allowed the kid to go into the forest.

Seeing his comrades looking at him, Bren held his hands up, "Hey too many kids are trying to leave, and I'm getting tired of beating them.

Let them see the consequences of what happens when you go out into the wild unprepared.

No Pokémon, No weapon, no materials, heck the kid is as good as dead."

One of the guards spoke up, "Then in your words if he had those items then he might have a chance to come back?"

"He would have a slight chance of coming back." Bren responded

The guard that spoke though about the bag and knife hidden in the boot of the boy then said, "Let's make a bet whether the kid makes it back by nightfall."

Bren simply looked at the guard who proposed the bet, "I'm assuming that you're saying the boy will make it back? If that's the case as long as he's out in the wild by the afternoon and makes it back by nightfall then you'll win."

The guard laughs, "I only propose the bet to pass some time, I didn't think you take the bet so seriously captain. I'm only betting fifty yen."

Bren smirked, "Clearly you don't know me well enough, "Bren paused as he glanced at the other guardsmen, "Any other takers?" Bren questioned

Everyone pitched in their money.

Out of the ten guardsmen; only three of them said the boy would make it back.

Jin was walking through the forest stopping when hidden to glance briefly at his map as he continued walking avoiding Pokémon when shown on the map.

Eventually as he neared a river an icon appeared on the map showing a mineral resource was nearby.

Jin headed towards the rivers, 'since it is near a river and its a mineral resource then it must be a water stone.'

Before approaching Jin made sure nothing was nearby in the river or out of it as he quickly look into the river

However all he saw was a bunch of smooth round stones, which puzzled him as he didn't see any dazzling stones.

'Don't tell me.'

He quickly grabbed a stone in which a tab promptly showed that it was an everstone.

Jin didn't think it was valuable in real life however knowing what it does in the game, it would probably be best to keep a few so Jin took three with him.

He continued through the forest as he quickly hid between a bush and tree hearing signs of a battle.

Checking the map he could see two red icons used to represent Pokémon just in the periphery of his map.

Just as he decided to walk the other way the sounds of battle stopped.

At the same time one of the red icons on the map turned grey.

It didn't take much for Jin to figure out that the two Pokémon fighting one of them had died.

Jin headed the opposite way until eventually he found some bushes containing berries, to his surprise he scavenged twelve Oran berries.

He continued walking and he came across a flying group of Pidgeys who simply eyed him before going on their way.

Jin watched as the Pidgeys flew in the sky, it felt surreal that he really was in the world of Pokémon.
