William Cole sat in silence, silently lighting a cigarette.

Anita Witt wanted to remind him that smoking was not permitted in the state banquet hall, but considering Ruth Dawn's situation, she did not stop him.

She led William to a seat at the third table.

"The first table is prepared for the individuals seated at the front."
