Safiya looked at him calmly, even though her mind was calculating on how to get out of this situation unharmed.
"Why are you following the king?" he asked, still curious about her identity. She knew they might be guessing who she was, but since they were already in another kingdom, they couldn't raise their stakes that high.
"Answer me," he growled, the knife suddenly going deeper, already cutting a tip of her flesh and causing Safiya to wince. But she refused to back down; her gaze was still fixed on him. A part of her was excited about the mask she had worn.
Safiya carefully let one of her hands travel to the hilt of her sword on her waist. She did it so carefully that the second guard didn't notice.
