Chapter 168

"You can call me Kírix, and this is Constantine."

Dio pointed to him beside him while now munching on a small cake with pink frosting.

He must applaud Constantine's composure in eating as if everything were fine.

Dio really couldn't do that, even with so much food in front of him that smells so good.

"Why are you introducing yourselves again? Don't you remember me? It wasn't that long ago, or was it?"

After saying this, the man turned his head while calculating the time passed from one event to another.

"Do we know each other?"

Dio asked, and he brought his attention back to him.

"Of course, my other part tried to kill you and take over the world—you know, the standard villain guy plan."

"You're the other part separated from Cain!"

Dio connected the dots.

"Yes, I am Cain!"

Cain replied happily while pointing to himself with both hands.

"Bloody hell."

Constantine sighed beside him.

"Really, I have to thank you for everything you did there; it was very important for me to put that other part to rest."

"Aren't you angry that we sealed your other part?"

"Why would I be? I got rid of it for that exact reason."

Cain said it in an obvious tone.

He's right, but they never know for sure what might happen when dealing with a lunatic.

Cain could see their fight against the other Cain as an offense to him or something like that.

"Wait, so the brother you said you killed was who?"

Constantine asked.

"Oh, it was Abel, of course, or at least one of them."

"BOOOM!"

"Brother, do we have visitors?"

Before they could ask more to understand the whole situation, the door of the tiny house burst open violently as it did the first time, and another man appeared.

The new addition to the story was taller than Cain with a suit, but much better made and more up-to-date than Cain's.

He had exactly the same hairstyle as Cain but was shorter and black.

"HAAAAAAAA!"

Before saying anything, Cain turned from his chair after letting out a scream and threw a silver knife that had been lying next to his plate.

"HAAAAAAAAAA!"

The man at the door screamed in fear and closed it as fast as he could to hide.

"BANG!"

The knife hit the door in the middle and embedded the middle into it.

Dio already had his hand on the hilt of his sword, and Constantine also had his hand pointed at Cain, who turned back to them.

He had a little red eyes before, but now they shine like light. At first, they were very bright, but quickly became normal.

He also seemed more relaxed and went back to drinking his coffee.

"Sorry about that, but my brother brings out the worst in me."

Cain commented in a polite tone of apology.

"It's okay, but may I ask a question if you don't mind?"

Dio knew it was better to ignore it and move on, but he really needed to ask this question.

"Of course."

Cain agreed.

"You mentioned that you killed at least one Abel. What does that mean?"

It seemed his question wasn't too offensive, and he immediately explained it to him.

"So, I don't know why, but my brother came to the Dreaming shortly after I did, and he was also responsible for one of these houses."

Cain pointed to the large house behind him.

"At first, it wasn't great due to our situation, but after many apologies and therapy, we became brothers again. This continued until my desire to kill him suddenly returned out of nowhere. It was almost like a sudden illness, and on that same day, I chased my brother with a rock to his house, where he locked himself in and hasn't come out since then."

"Let me guess, the rest was to contain this murderous urge that you created dreams of your brother and started killing him non-stop?"

Constantine asked.

"That's right, it's perfect, isn't it?"

Cain asked with a big smile on his face.

"Worse than that, it must be better than any therapy ever invented. In fact, can you get some dreams of my old man? I have some things to get off my chest."

Constantine said.

Cain raised a finger that began to glow slightly.

"No, thanks Cain, but he was just joking."

Dio looked at Constantine, who shrugged and returned his attention to his food.

Cain lowered his finger, looking a bit sad.

Interestingly, someone can actually manipulate the Dreaming to the point of creating a persona that is almost alive.

Dio was unsure how long Cain took to acquire this ability, but it could be useful for him.

In Dreaming, he could create fake materials to learn alchemy and test his spells without wasting or damaging anything.

It's really something to think about later.

As for Cain's condition, Dio believed that it must be some kind of side effect of being separated into two different entities.

That kind of thing always have a side effect.

"Cain, I want to thank you for the food, but I have to ask, do you know how to get to the castle of the Lord of the Dreaming?"

Dio finally asked.

"Of course, I'll personally guide you to the Ghost Castle. It's the least I can do for my guests and for those who imprisoned my worst part."

Cain agreed enthusiastically and made a small bow at the end while holding a cup.

"That's good, this boy here thought maybe you'd go crazy and attack us because of that fight."

Constantine really needed to learn to keep his mouth shut.

"Why would I do that? My other side was causing too many problems. If things had continued that way, the one above would likely get involved since technically I'm their problem."

Cain said this and shook his head.

"Yes, and no one wants to deal with those idiotic winged pigeons meddling in their business."

Constantine made the same gesture.

An interesting fact is that all the beings Dio has talked to over the years who have had contact with the supernatural all have a similar opinion about angels.

Dio always reserved judgment about a person or race until he met them personally.

"In fact, you really need a reward for your brave deeds!"

Without waiting for any of them to speak, Cain jumped up from his chair and ran as fast as he could back into the big house while leaving them alone again.

"Aren't you going to eat? It's really good."

Constantine said this and grabbed another small pie from the table.

"Do you have any spells to prevent poison or something like that?"

Dio asked, genuinely wanting to know.

"No, but you really should seek help to deal with your paranoia."

"Seriously? Do I need help?"

"Found it!"

Cain shouted while running out of the house and holding something above his head.

He literally jumped into his chair and placed what he grabbed in the center of the table.

"A key?"

Dio asked with confusion.

It was an old key, about thirty centimeters long, made of rusted iron.

It didn't have irregular teeth like modern ones. Instead, it had two thick iron pieces separated from each other, and the grip area was round.

"That's the key to the house, of course."

Cain said, but he ignored the key and started attacking the cakes on the table.

"Are you giving us your house?"

Constantine asked.

"Yes, I am."

Cain agreed with his mouth full of cream.

"Cain, we can't live in the dream, so it doesn't make sense for you to give us the house. It's better for you to keep it."

Dio refused the key.

"But you can take it with you,"

Cain said some nonsense again.

"Take? the whole house with us?"

Dio asked again with confusion.

"Yes, that's the House of Mystery. It can go anywhere."

"Fuu!"

Constantine whistled.

Dio looked at him, still not understanding, and he explained to him.

"The House of Mystery is a living and mysterious residence. No one knows when or how it was created; its name says it all. As far as I know, the house can move anywhere, change its interior at will, and has defensive measures that even a god would have trouble dealing with."

"My brother and I were given possession of two houses to live in by the Dream itself. He has the House of Secrets."

"That's some luck, kid,"

Constantine said it with his eyes gleaming.

Then Dio remembered that in the comics, Constantine had possession of a house like this.

Dio didn't have many details about it because he hadn't read many stories about him.

It's really difficult and funny to feel bad for not having read many comics in his past life.

"But why are you giving us something so valuable?"

Dio asked.

"Well, it's because the house has been very bored lately, asking to travel with me, but I can't leave the Dream, and we end up arguing. But with you, it can really wander for a few centuries until it comes back to me when you die."

Cain explained as if their deaths were nothing at all.

Constantine will definitely die of old age or cancer, with the second option being his likely bet.

Anyway, Dio won't age as long as no one kills him, and he wasn't going to tell him that.
