With the end of La Liga comes the final of the Champions League.
In the end, Manchester City won this year's Champions League with a 1-0 victory over ac Milan.
City have had a very difficult time along the way too.
The quarter-final, a two-legged 5-0 thrashing of Real Madrid, was also a not-so-small blowout, and the reason why Real Madrid was kicked in the face had nothing to do with the rise of Betis.
Then in the semi-final, Manchester City killed Barcelona on points, a game in which they were again lucky to advance. And naturally, this result had nothing to do with Betis again.
It's fair to say that Betis' meteoric rise directly cost La Liga this European trophy.
After the final, Messi was once again named Champions League Player of the Year, the first time in the history of the Champions League that someone has won the honor back-to-back.
