Blanc Duels Gar Grayleaf

Blanc merely smiled after hearing Gar Grayleaf's response.

Resonance City's army quickly made space for the duel as Blanc walked into the middle and drew his mithril sword.

Gar was surprised after looking closely at Blanc's sword.

"Is that a mithril sword?!"

He then started looking at the weapons and armor of Resonance City's elite soldiers. It was painted to look like iron but it was actually mithril?!

So that's why their army couldn't even put up a resistance against the backwater city's army!

"That stupid envoy! He reported that they only have the most basic iron equipment! He deserved to be beaten!"

Gar said to himself.

"Hey, where are you looking? I thought you wanted to fight? Are you actually trying to run from me?"

Blanc taunted Gar.

Veins popped into Gar's head again. This backwater city lord dares to insult him?!

"WHO'S SCARED OF YOU?!"

Gar immediately drew his sword and charged at Blanc.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

"HA! IS THIS ALL YOU GOT?!"

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

Gar continued attacking Blanc with an aggressive and overwhelming fighting style.

The battalion commanders merely laughed at Gar's full-blown assault.

"This idiot! He's using the most worthless fighting style when fighting against the City Lord but he still thinks he's pushing the City Lord back!"

"Hahahaha go! Keep attacking! exhaust your own energy!"

"Look, he's even using the textbook attack patterns! What a bozo!"

Gar sneaked a glance at the battalion commanders and his eyes widened upon seeing that they were laughing.

Why are these idiots laughing?! Can't they see that their hillbilly city lord is losing to me?!

Gar was infuriated. He attacked even fiercer but it seemed that this city lord has the same tier of physique as him since he wasn't able to overpower him with sheer strength.

Still, Gar believed that he was better at swordsmanship so he just continued attacking relentlessly.

An hour later…

"Haaaahh…Haaaahh…WHEN THE FUCK WILL YOU HIT BACK?! THE PURPOSE OF A DUEL IS TO ATTACK EACH OTHER! WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING LIKE A TURTLE?!"

Gar couldn't help but complain. He didn't have a single injury but he also wasn't able to land even a single clean hit.

In addition to this, the only response he got was a blank expressionless face which infuriated him even more.

Gar gnashed his teeth in frustration.

"You wanna play it like this huh? Alright then, let's play."

Gray sword intent started to coat Gar's sword.

Gar immediately charged at Blanc again with a fierce expression. It seems like he would never give up on using this aggressive fighting style.

Fortunately for him, his attacks were slightly working this time. Because of the sword intent, Blanc's mithril sword was slowly getting chipped bit by bit.

Thirty minutes later, Blanc's mithril sword was already in a bad condition. It seems like it would snap in half after a few more exchanges.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! After a few more exchanges my blade shall cut through your head!"

Gar was going crazy with mixed feelings of frustration and excitement.

He had been waiting far too long to retrieve even just a bit of his reputation.

The battalion commanders started to get worried, Blanc was equal or even a little bit better than Gar in terms of actual swordsmanship skills but alas! He doesn't have sword intent and he's slowly losing because of it!

Although his battle with Alexander was intense, it was unfortunately unable to help him successfully break through to Swordmaster.

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

Their swords clashed again as Gar started attacking him again.

"Haaahh…Haaahhh…"

At this point, Blanc is starting to get tired as well. However, instead of desperation, a smile can be seen on Blanc's face.

"DIE!!!"

Gar charged again to try and finish Blanc off since Blanc's sword might snap in half anytime now.

"I finally understand…So it's like…this!"

The next moment, the battalion commanders' and Gar's eyes widened in shock.

A mix of black and red sword intent started to coat Blanc's sword.

Swordmaster!

At a critical moment, Blanc finally managed to break through to Swordmaster.

The color of his sword intent was a little weird but Blanc didn't care. He was happy that he finally broke through to Swordmaster

*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*

"K…Kuhhh…"

How is this hillbilly city lord so strong?! How is his sword intent this heavy?!

This time, it was Gar who was pushed back after three exchanges.

*CLANG* *SPURT* *CLANG* *CLANG* *SPURT*

Actually, Blanc already knew all of Gar's attack patterns. However, Gar's sword intent wasn't giving him any room to counterattack.

This time, however, he has finally comprehended sword intent. During the past five exchanges, Blanc was able to inflict two small cuts on Gar's body.

"Shit! Shit! This can't be happening! HAAAAARRRRRRGHHH!!! DIE!! DIEE!! DIEEEEE!!"

Gar started to swing widely due to anxiety and panic. Although the wide swings helped him fight back against Blanc, gaps started to open up in his defense.

*CLANG* *SPURT* *SPURT* *SPURT* *CLANG**CLANG* *SPURT* *SPURT* *SPURT*

More and more cuts started to appear on Gar's body as the exchanges continued.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"

Gar was panicking, this was the first time that he faced death head-on. Never once did he think that he would die in a duel.

He has never lost a duel even once in his life so after realizing that there's a high chance of him losing a fight to the death, he started panicking.

Finally, he made a move that Blanc was expecting him to do.

"DIE!!!"

Gar charged forward and slashed down with an overhead chop but Blanc was expecting this move because Gar had been doing it every time he was put in the same situation.

Blanc narrowly avoided the overhead chop by leaning his body to the right. Then, he stabbed his sword towards Gar's throat.

*SPUUUUURRTTT*

"kuuughkkk! oooghkkk!!"

Gar wanted to speak but he couldn't because his throat had been pierced by Blanc's stab.

He slowly fell to the ground while trying to stop the bleeding with his hands.

Unfortunately for him, he still bled out to death after a few more minutes.

"OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!! The City Lord won!!!!"

"The City Lord is now a Swordmaster!! Three Swordmasters in one city!! Resonance City is invincible!"

"Glory to Resonance City!!"

"Glory to Resonance City!!"

Blanc finally smiled after hearing the cheers of his own men. It was indeed glorious to win a one-on-one duel against a Swordmaster.
