Chapter 248: Waking Up

In the medical room on the surface of the STAR Labs, the lights were on.

Lady Gaga's song "Poker Face" played in the background.

"What are you doing?" Caitlin looked at Cisco strangely. Why was he playing background music?

Turning her head, she looked at Barry Allen lying on the bed, shirtless, with his lean body showing faint muscle lines.

"He likes this song," Cisco said, taking a bite of his taffy.

"How do you know?"

"I checked his Facebook profile. He can still hear, right?" Cisco shrugged, looking at Barry.

"Auditory perception is indeed the last sense to fade," Caitlin replied accurately.

"In that case, it should be sung by his favorite person. Maybe he'll perk up listening to the song," H'el, dressed in the lab's black T-shirt and gray casual pants, walked into the medical room and joked as he looked at the lying Barry.

Months ago, H'el, Harrison Wells, Cisco, and Caitlin went to Central City Hospital with the consent of Barry's foster father, Joe West, to bring Barry to the interstellar lab for treatment.

During the day, Cisco and Caitlin monitored Barry's health and recorded his biological data.

At night, H'el and Harrison Wells conducted some minor tests on Barry's body and experimented with his reaction to the speed force, obtaining a lot of useful data.

Now H'el was officially living in the lab and had established a good friendship with Caitlin and Cisco.

Cisco turned his head, pointed his finger like a gun at H'el, took out a red taffy, and threw it to H'el with a smirk. "Oh, this poor baby."

Once, Cisco and H'el were strolling through the entertainment district of Central City, playing video games. They passed by a French restaurant and saw Barry's childhood sweetheart, Iris, and Eddie having dinner together, kissing.

Since Barry came to the lab, Iris often came to visit him. Naturally, Cisco guessed this melodramatic plot.

Just when Barry was unconscious, his childhood sweetheart got a boyfriend.

H'el caught the taffy thrown by Cisco, laughed, and returned a helpless expression. He really didn't want to discuss Barry's gossip with Cisco.

But apparently, in the lab, Harrison Wells was rarely around, so it was only Cisco and H'el, two men.

Caitlin rolled her eyes at the two men in annoyance and turned to focus on her own tasks.

"Ah!!!"

Suddenly, Barry gasped as if a drowning person suddenly breathed air, taking in big gulps of breath, his pupils dilating.

As Cisco walked towards H'el to discuss their plans for the holiday and invite him to play real-life CS, he turned around and saw Barry waking up. Quickly, he rushed to the bedside. "Oh my god, oh my god, he really likes this song!"

Caitlin immediately came to Barry's side, took out a small flashlight, and shone it into Barry's pupils, quickly performing a check on the bewildered and clueless Barry. "Pulse one hundred and two, pupils responding to light beam, look at me, look at me..."

Barry resisted Caitlin's small flashlight and pushed it away from the bed, sitting up.

H'el glanced at the awakening Barry and pressed the communication channel to Harrison Wells on the console. "Dr. Wells, come to the surface. Barry has awakened."

In the unfamiliar environment, Barry responded with resistance and confusion, looking at Cisco and Caitlin, his gaze flickering nervously as he shook his head. "Who are you, and where is this?"

"Relax, calm down, everything is fine. This is the STAR Labs. I'm Cisco Ramon, and she's Dr. Caitlin Snow."

Cisco eased Barry's panicked heart.

Caitlin had already begun preparing for a detailed examination of Barry's body, directly taking out a small cup and professionally saying, "I need your urine sample."

Cisco recalled the bad suffocation response and quickly snatched the small cup from Caitlin's hand. "Now is not the right time."

The words of Cisco and Caitlin beside Barry buzzed in his ears, making him flustered. His gaze swept over and saw H'el smiling nearby. Suddenly, his just-awakened and panicked heart gradually calmed down.

H'el possessed Barry's Speed Force inside him, giving Barry a familiar feeling of warmth, especially since they collided during the day of the explosion of the particle accelerator.

H'el's outstanding appearance was something Barry hadn't forgotten to this day.

Seeing H'el nearby, a familiar figure, Barry, who was previously confused and panicked, began to calm down.

"You..." It was only at this moment that Barry realized he didn't know H'el's name.

"H'el. Among the legendary trio of beauty and intelligence at our STAR Lab," Cisco explained excitedly. "I believe you can tell who among the trio embodies beauty and intelligence."

Caitlin resisted strongly, "No, I'm definitely not the intelligence among the legendary trio. That's absurd. I don't agree with the majority's vote here."

Cisco looked puzzled. When did we ever say you represent intelligence?

Barry, teased by this banter, lost his panic and nodded along with Cisco's words. "He represents beauty. What about you?" He looked at Cisco.

Cisco was speechless.

With both beauty and intelligence out of the picture, he could only say, "I... represent balance, perhaps? Weight balance?"

Cisco shrugged helplessly.

"Okay, but what exactly happened to me? The legendary trio," Barry asked again.

"You got struck by lightning, buddy," Cisco explained.

Barry felt his upper body, a strange muscular sensation. His body wasn't healthy before; muscles were practically non developed. Struck by lightning, lying in a hospital bed, and yet he had muscles? He turned to the standing mirror and saw his neatly arranged six-pack abs, dumbfounded. "The lightning gave me abs?"

"Your muscles were supposed to atrophy, but instead, they've been undergoing cell regeneration in a chronic, unexplainable state," Caitlin explained professionally, continuously pressing on Barry's shoulder muscles.

Barry had too many questions swirling in his mind, leaving Caitlin, the bio-doctor, baffled. Just as she was about to delve into a deeper explanation, Cisco interrupted abruptly.

Now was not the time for explanations.

"Listen, buddy, you got struck by lightning, and you've been in a coma," Cisco cut in.

"For how long?"

"Nine months."

Harrison Wells drove his automatic wheelchair into the entrance of the medical room from the surface, answering Barry's question.

"Welcome back, Barry Allen."
