not so bad news

The next day...

Charlie was still in the hospital, but his condition had improved. I continued to stay by his side, too afraid to leave the room, fearing another attack. I couldn't bear the thought of dying before experiencing the joys of family life and, of course, leaving Charlie behind. The image of yesterday's terrible incident haunts my head and continues to make me feel afraid.

What would life be like without me? Our suffering was enough... It felt like we wanted to act indifferent as if there were no threats, but every time I saw the guards who often visited us, it reminded me that we were truly not safe.

"Oh, my God..."

Charlie's voice grabbed my attention. I rose from the sofa, having placed a half-filled glass of milk on the table, and approached him, still sitting on the bed with only his chest bare and his hands wrapped in bandages.

"I don't know if this is good news or not, but look!" He eagerly handed me his phone.
