The Drowsy Leviathan

Xander gasped and stepped back as the enormous wooden ship cut through the fog and emerged from the darkness. It was almost thirty feet tall and stretched for over seventy feet in length.

On each side of the ship, there were ten wooden oars, each moving on its own without needing any sailors to man them. The main mast of the ship was ghastly white while the other smaller masts were dull grey and torn in several places.

The ship drifted noiselessly across the river like a stealthy alligator, its massive frame slicing through the dark waters. There on the deck, the souls of the departed were gathered like a crowd of lost travelers, searching for a way to return home.

Xander scanned the spectral apparitions walking aimlessly up and down the deck, and tried to find the familiar face he was looking for, but it was difficult to make out their hazy features from such a distance.

"How do we stop this ship?" Xander asked.
