Florentia had come under attack several times from barbaric tribes from the east and roving bands of bandits led by rogue mercenaries, but the city's defenses had always successfully repelled the attackers.

However, the situation looked a lot more threatening this time because the City Guards weren't facing a handful of poorly trained cutthroats and rogues, but a horde of Goblins led by a Dreamwalker who was hell-bent on seeking revenge.

Lieutenant Adelis had already witnessed Renace's unholy power, and he had no intention of facing such an adversary. His bravado quickly left him, and he climbed down from the battlements to hide behind the walls of the city.
