"Oden-San, please take a seat." Hiashi spoke without emotion, as his youngest daughter was just staring coldly at him, wondering who he was.
"Thank you," Oden said just as emotionlessly as he sat down beside Hiashi.
Hanabi the young girl with the cold look on her face was staring at him, annoyed that he didn't show any respect to her, the genius daughter of the clan head.
Hiashi seeing her behave like this felt like he should explain things before something awkward happened.
"Hanabi, this is the clan patriarch of the Zaraki clan, he's also your future brother-in-law, so make sure you're respectful," Hiashi said while staring forward.
"Eh?" She accidentally said in surprise. She was aware of the Zaraki clan, who wasn't? To think that someone like that was here. She realized that she was lucky that she hadn't berated him for not showing respect.
'Wait... brother-in-law?' Hanani suddenly realized the last part of her father's words. She turned towards him wanting to ask more about that but seeing as she was ignored she couldn't help but pretend to be aloof about it.
Oden had seen their wordless interaction and found it... funny.
"Hmm, your youngest takes after you as for Hinata, she probably takes after your former wife?" Oden asked silently.
Hiashi flinched slightly at the mention of his dead wife, and the fact that Hinata was similar to her.
Hiashi only nodded in confirmation.
"As for you little girl, I'll be your big brother in the future so make sure to always be respectful, make sure that when you go home you start mastering the art of preparing good tea for elder brothers," Oden stated as he kept looking forward.
Hiashis eye twitched as Hanani felt rage combust inside her.
Her eyes became 30 degrees colder as she was ready to retort but seeing her father giving her a look that said 'control yourself.' She had to take a few breaths and try to not lash out at this shameless older brother.
As for Oden, he was smirking slightly, his new younger sister was like a wild kitten that hissed at everything... she would be fun to play with.
As Hanani started calming down she was that Oden was slightly smirking as if he had won a fight against her which made her even more furious suddenly she felt chakra go into her eyes and her Byakugan was activated.
Who had dared to treat her, the heiress of the Hyuga clan like this before? Usually, she was very respectful and had great self-restraint but somehow this young clan head seemed to know how to crawl under her skin.
"Hanabi." Hiashi simply said.
Hanabi had to calm down but her face looked like a hissing kitten that wanted to kill its prey.
Oden found that teasing this little girl might become really fun for him.
"Hiashi-san, since I and my little sister-in-law seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot, I think we should find some time to have dinner together at my place to strengthen our bonds," Oden said.
Hiashi understood his intentions and felt slightly annoyed, at first he believed that Oden was cold and aloof like himself, but now he's starting to see the true colors of Oden, Cold, aloof, and filled with mischief.
"...Sure" Hiashi finally said as he couldn't rebuke Oden's words, Hanabi was not pleased and her brows definitely furrowed.
Oden wanted to continue to tease little Hanabi but the first match was about to start.
there were ten contenders, there were 16 fighters in total including 2 Zaraki clan members. Except that one was missing, Sasuke.
The others had shown their chin capabilities during the preliminary fights and didn't continue.
Oden had already given them chunin ranks, and he commanded the 2 with the best talents to continue to the final exam so he can show off his clan a bit.
The first to fight was Hinata against Kankuro of Suna. All the genin left for the stand designated for them, except for Hinata and Kankuro.
"Don't lose, it's an easy match!" Temari, the sister of Gaara and Kankuro said as she left for the stands. They had prepared with lots of information about the genin in the last exam so when they saw that Kankuro would fight someone they considered easy picking they felt relief.
"Don't worry, I won't lose to a waste," Kankuro said with glee.
Hinata had a reputation, rather infamous for being weak both in skill and mind. There were even rumors that she lost in spars against her 7-year-old sister.
But the truth was far from what people believed. Hinata was very talented, in fact, she would grow up to develop lots of jutsu on her own that fit her fighting style. But her problem was that she was meek and didn't want to hurt her sister.
In the end, she started to bloom after she met Oden.
"Are you guys ready, set GO!" the examiner for the fight said starting the fight.
But just as Kankuro was about to raise his hands for an attack, Hinata raised her finger even faster after activating her Byakugan, and then stabbed in the air multiple times.
It looked strange, and everyone was confused about what Hinata was doing, except for Oden.
Eve Hiashi and Hanabi were looking at her weirdly, why does it seem like she was closing the tenketsu with their gentle palm? Except that method needs direct contact. right now she's 10 meters away from him.
Suddenly, one second later, Hinata stopped her movements, and then Kankuro fell down totally paralyzed.
The whole stadium became drop-dead silent.
Hiashi Had stood up in shock and confusion and Hanabis eyes were wide open. Even her little mouth had dropped.
The examiner was equally stupified.
"Erm... did I win." Hinata finally spoke meekly.
Everyone was even more stupified, how can someone this shy do what she just did? One has to remember who she just fought and defeated in one move under two seconds. The son of Sunagakure's Kage.
Seeing how everyone was just silently staring, Oden finally started cheering by clapping, which woke up the people from their stupor as they started to cheer, shout and clap as well.
"Is... this what you've been teaching her..." Hiashi finally spoke, asking Oden.
Even little Hanabi was listening intently.
"Yes, it's a jutsu I made a long time ago, but it doesn't suit me.... it did surprise me that she actually learned it in under a month, her talent is scary," Oden spoke nonchalantly.
"I see." Hiashi simply stated.
