Demon Slayers

The previous battle had given Inei some trouble, but with a little bit of luck on his side, he came out without any heavy injuries.

His sword, however, was jagged after the outcome. It was chipped from place to place, Inei frowned as his gaze lingered on the dull blade of the Iaido Katana.

'If I encounter another demon, things might get rough'

He concluded before sheathing his sword and continuing his journey. After hours of traveling, he finally reached Mt. Sagiri in the evening.

The short grass on the ground reflected the dawn's rays and the wind blew, ruffling his neck-length hair.

He drew in the fresh air and stared at the sight with a slight smile on his face.

"Finally"

Sighing, Inei walked uphill toward a small hut in the distance, the birds chirped, and squirrels ran across the forest as he walked.

His pitch-black eyes were fully concentrated on the house in front of him.

He stood in front of the front door with a calm expression, Inei raised his hand and gave two knocks on the door.

There was no response.

He knocked again, but this time the sound of footsteps could be heard.

He waited patiently till the door finally opened.

The figure revealed itself, it was a man wearing a blue Kimono with white cloud patterns, he wore a red mask with a slightly extended nose.

"Why have you come here, child?"

The man asked, his voice seemed to lack hospitality or hostility, it was plain and straightforward.

Inei slowly raised his head to meet the gaze of the man, only a single word came out of his mouth, and that was more than enough for the man to slightly widen his eyes.

"Demons"

The man noticed the Katana strapped on his waist, he also noticed the tranquillity the child displayed despite knowing such information.

The man's gaze lingered on Inei for quite a while before he turned his back toward him.

"Come inside, and close the door when you enter"

Inei removed his sandals to the side when he entered, he closed the door and made his way toward a small hall lit by candles.

The man sat in the middle behind a wooden table, he gestured to Inei to take a seat opposite him.

Inei sat down and placed his Katana on the side beside him, he then shifted his gaze toward the masked individual.

"Urokodaki"

"Inei Mastumi"

The masked man, Urokodaki, introduced himself, and Inei politely stated his name as well.

"If it's not a hassle, I would like to know what happened for you to get that information"

Inei took a sip of the tea Urukudaki served and began to explain the massacre that took place in the Village.

Urokodaki frowned as he heard the content of the disaster, his heart grew more heavy seeing the child explaining in a flat tone without any expression or emotion in his words.

The masked man sighed after Inei was done with his part, Urokodaki felt sympathetic toward the young boy.

"Well, what's your plan now?"

Inei gazed at his fists and clenched them.

"As I said earlier, I made a vow to eliminate every single one of them, that's my purpose now, that's the only thing that matters to me"

He spoke in a matter-of-factly tone, Inei really did mean what he said, he did not fear the risks involved in such a case.

His entire purpose in his life was now on a vow made by him to his parents.

"And how exactly are you planning on doing that?"

Inei stayed silent for a good while before replying.

"There was a rumor in my village, it was related to demons. It was said that to save humanity from demons, an organization was created to subdue them, it was also rumored that a member of that organization lived near Mt. Sagiri"

"I see"

"I have battled two demons in total, they had one thing in common, they didn't die after beheading or slicing them to pieces, they just regenerated their limbs and heads every time, the only way I know to kill them is by exposing them to the sunlight"

Urokodaki sighed, fighting two Demons without any information on them was impressive, especially when this kid was just an ordinary one.

"So I came here to get some information regarding them"

'Eh?'

Urokodaki raised a brow at the statement.

"I thought you came here to train under me, and join the organization"

Inei helplessly shook his head.

"I considered that, but it would slow me down, I will tied down by rules and restrictions if I join such an organization"

Urokodaki chuckled, Inei was puzzled by his actions.

"Sorry to break it you young man, but without joining the Demons Slayers, you cannot hope to slay every demon, and your strength will never raise, because you wouldn't live long enough to"

Inei frowned.

"Why is that?"

"I'll tell you"

Urokodaki began to explain about the Nichirin Swords, their use, the history of breathing techniques, and the history of the Demon Slayers.

Inei was becoming more troubled as the information was getting piled up, he was reminded how short-sighted he was and how much danger he was in.

'This is really bad, I just wanted to get information and set out on my journey, but things just got complicated, it seems I cannot achieve my goals without getting the Nichirin sword and the breathing techniques, with my half-assed one I learned, I might die tomorrow or today'

'This organization doesn't sound too bad though, I can rapidly increase my strength, and wipe out those damn creatures much more quickly'

Inei thought hard about his decision, but in reality, he had only one option, which was to join them, without their help, his goals seemed impossible to achieve.

Inei raised his head to look Urokodaki straight in the eyes.

"Mr. Urokodaki, please accept me as your disciple to train under you! and help me pass the Final selection"

Inei bowed as he spoke, his forehead touching the cold wooden floor.

Urokodaki pondered, his thoughts moving to the past.
