"It's okay, Kitty. I know you mean well," Henry said. He put truths into his words despite slathering them with lies. "If the situation is ideal, I'd love to bring you to my family. In fact, I would've introduced you to my family the moment we started dating."
Kate understood the situation well.
She had no good memories with her family, and after she reported her father to the police, which got him arrested, she tried to steer away from any discussion regarding her family life.
She never mentioned anything about her family to any of her old friends back in university, and sometimes, if they pressed on and asked about it, she would say that her father passed away long ago and she was raised by a single mother who never remarried.
