Chapter 1.2

(SELENA'S POV)

After the session ended, I look right back at him and he didn't even bulge nor try to hide it. He has his head resting on his left palm. The way he was looking at me was like he was studying every part of me.

"What is it?" I ask him.

He gives a soft smile before saying, "I'm Spencer. You?"

I frown before answering him. "Selena. Do you have any other questions?"

"Yeah. Can we eat lunch together?"

I look at the clock. I'm new here and I don't know the directions to the canteen yet, so perhaps he can help although I don't particularly trust him.

"Okay," I reply.

He stands up so I go ahead and grab my lunch box.

I don't really understand why there's already class on the first day. It would've been beneficial for me if we had some group activities so that I can be introduced to the others. Instead, I'm left with this guy.

I follow him from behind. The hallways are packed but for some reason, I catch some students glancing at our direction discreetly. Are they warning me or some sort?

I go to them, to their shock.

"Hello, I'm Selena. I'm new here so do you mind eating with us for lunch?"

They both look at each other before saying, "I'm sorry, but we already have an appointment with our friends. Maybe next time. Welcome to the school by the way." They scoot away to my disappointment.

I feel someone's hand on my right shoulder.

"Hey, why did you leave me?"

I turn to my left and saw Spencer. I look behind him and saw some more people glancing at our direction. I sigh before responding with, "I'm sorry. Please lead the way."

Once we get to the canteen, I plan to sit on a table where some students are already in so that I can meet more people I can possibly be friends with.

I follow him to the jampacked canteen.

"Wait here," he says before leaving.

Now that I'm alone, I take the time to look around my surroundings. I do know how weird he's acting right now and it's even weirder that I'm following his every action, don't you think?

I lean back on the chair while still maintaining good posture. I glance back at the lines but I can't see him nor anyone with red hair. I decide to stand up until someone comes near my table. It was a girl with two loose twin braids.

"Hi! Mind if I sit here?"

"Sure, go ahead."

I was planning to find those two people from a while ago but someone presented themselves so sure why not?

"You don't look familiar, are you new here?"

"Yes, it's my first day here," I reply. She nods in response and looks behind me. She stands up and says goodbye before blending into the crowd.
