ENEMIES PART 2

Nalani stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, her gaze fixed on the twinkling lights of the city below. The night sky was dark and ominous, mirroring the tumultuous emotions raging within her. This has been her new habit since Logan's condition it's been a week since he slipped into a coma but for her, it felt like a year. It was already 8:00 PM Liam and Leo called earlier to inform her of Arrow's death. It was pleasing to her ears since he was part of the cruel organization that killed many innocent people and she was looking forward to putting the organization to an end. For they had ripped where they did not sow. They killed her parents and it's because of them that her precious Logan is lying unconscious and up to date.

Her thoughts were consumed with Logan. The man she loved, the man who had sacrificed everything for her, lay motionless in the hospital bed. The constant beep-beep of the machines and the steady sound of his breathing had become a constant reminder of his fragile state.

Her heart ached as she remembered their moments together. Now all she could do was hope and pray that he would wake up.

As she stood there lost in her thoughts, she couldn't help but feel a surge of anger towards the organization that had wreaked so much havoc in her life. Arrow's death was just the beginning, she was determined to make sure that they would never hurt anyone else ever again.

A fierce sense of determination filled her, her instincts telling her that the time had come to take matters into her own hands. As her eyes flickered with an intense fire, she knew that nothing would stand in her way in her quest for justice.

Nalani looked out the window, her body trembling with unspent rage and determination. For the first time in a long time, she felt powerful, like nothing could ever stop her. She had the strength of the ocean in her veins, and she was ready to use it to protect those she cared about most.

She decides to call Xifi to find out if he has located the new headquarters of the organisation, she dials his number and after two rings he picks up.

Siren!

"Xifi, have you found the new headquarters of the organisation?" Siren asked calmly but her voice held authority.

"Yes, Siren. The headquarters have been located. It's in a remote location in the forest, hidden behind layers of security," Xifi replied.

Siren's eyes lit up with excitement. "That's good, Xifi! We can finally take down the organisation and bring justice to their victims."

Yes, that's true, so what's the next plan?

Track down the big boss' family. There's a game I have in mind. She said mischievously.

Siren? Xi called in a worried voice.

"I have complete faith in our team Xi. Let's get started on this mission." Trust me it'll work.

Okay, he said giving in and she disconnected the call. Just then a call came in from her grandfather.

Grandpa. She exclaimed excitedly.

Nalani dear, sorry for calling this late,

No need to apologize, she responded waving away, his apology.

I just wanted to tell you that there's going to be a family dinner Friday night. Your, uncle, will be coming over with his family. They just wanted to see you and make up for the lost time. Do you think you can make it?

Sure Gramps, I'll be there after work. She affirmed with a cheerful smile.

THE NEXT MORNING

I woke up early in the morning because I had a meeting with a tricky business tycoon. After a proper bath, I got dressed and kissed Logan goodbye. In an hour I was sitting in my office staring at the face of Mr Maricho, who was acting difficult to talk to.

So the meeting started.

Sir... as I said earlier Brooks Corp is the finest you can get for this project, we don't only have the best models for your products but we also find everything without the need for help. We have a name that attracts and captivates.

Mr Maricho, I understand your hesitation to invest in our company, but I assure you, Brooks Corp is the best option for this project."

I began presenting power points, showcasing the models and products the company had created, highlighting the unique aspects that set them apart from competitors. Explaining their various branches and capabilities.

"With our expertise in the field, we find everything without the need for additional help, which saves you both time and money."

I spoke with conviction, and my passion for the company was evident in my words. I felt my confidence growing as I spoke, knowing that if I could convince him I could just earn his trust. As you can see, Mr Maricho, we have a name that attracts and captivates. Our reputation speaks for itself, and I am confident if you invest in Brooks Corp, you will see a great return on your investment."

I finished the presentation smoothly, feeling a rush of satisfaction as I met Mr Maricho's gaze. I knew that I had made a strong case for the company, and for a moment, I allowed myself to imagine the potential success that could come from this investment.

Mr Maricho sat silently for a moment, studying Nalani before finally nodding his head in agreement.

"Very well," he said. "I can see the passion and dedication you have for your company. I will invest in Brooks Corp." Your fiancee made a good choice he said smiling and showing his hand for me to shake.

Thank you! I said with a curt smile as I accepted his handshake. But within I couldn't contain the excitement as I felt a rush of achievement wash over me. I had shown him exactly why Brooks Corp was the best choice and successfully earned his trust. I'm so happy to have accomplished this for Logan.

As I left the meeting room, I was confident that this investment would be of great value to the company. Considering he's Chinese.

LATER THAT DAY IN TOWN

I can't believe you nailed it, that's a client we couldn't get, Logan didn't pay much attention to him, because of the man's character. And yet you took him under your canopy in just a few hours. How did you do it, Nalani? Commented Leo who was excited and surprised.

Hard work! I said proudly.

You need to show us the ropes cause if you were in business you'd probably come second after Logan. Said Liam teasingly.

Yeah right, Like I'm even close to his business skills. I said with sarcasm.

I'm serious, look at how well you're performing, I swear Logan will be so proud of you. Said Liam.

Order anything you want, bills on me. I said excitedly.

Alright! They cheered in unison with excitement, just as they placed their orders, a young lady walked towards us and stood at our table.

Hi Nalani. She said with a sweet smile but, I could sense something off.

Hi... Excuse me do I know you? I ask puzzled.

Oh, I'm a business partner of Logan, I haven't seen him in a while.

I see... Okay, nice to meet you I said dismissively cause I felt something off with the woman.

I heard you're his fiancee. She said with jealousy dripping down her every word.

Yeah, I am I said feeling exhausted.

What do you want, woman?! I spat cutting her off, startling Liam and Leo.

Wow! Looks like you're not so modest after all, she said full of spite.

And I guess you're not so busy, are you? I asked with a raised brow.

"I heard you're his fiancee," Diana said, her voice dripping with jealousy. So I wanted to meet you.

"Yes, I am," I responded.

Diana leaned closer, her eyes narrow with jealousy. "So... what does Logan see in you?"

The question caught Nalani off guard. "Excuse me?"

"I mean, you're clearly not his usual type. He usually goes for women who are... shall we say, innocent."

Nalani's jaw clenched, but she kept her voice even. "I'm not sure what you're getting at."

"I'm just saying, Logan and I have been business partners for years. We know each other extremely well. And I can't help but wonder... what is it about you that he finds so intriguing?"

Nalani gritted her teeth, her fists clenched under the table. "Logan loves me for who I am, not for some superficial idea of 'innocence."

Diana laughed. "Oh, sweetie. You're so naive. Logan's a businessman. He's all about appearances, and you just don't measure up."

Nalani simply stared at Diana with a fierce look in her eyes. Her beauty somehow intensified, and it seemed to intimidate Diana, who shifted her gaze uncomfortably.

Diana tried to regain her composure and placed her hands on the table, leaning forward. "I just wanted to get to know the woman who stole Logan's heart," she said with a fake smile.

Nalani raised an eyebrow, not amused at Diana's words. "That's very kind of you, but I think I've had enough of this conversation," she replied, trying to keep her cool.

Diana chuckled, clearly not deterred by Nalani's response. "Oh, come on, Nalani. I heard so much about you," she said, with a hint of malice in her tone.

Nalani scoffed at Diana's words, her patience wearing thin. "I don't care what you heard. What do you want from me?"

Diana adjusted her standing posture, crossing her arms. "Well, I was just wondering what makes you so special. What makes you stand out from the rest of the women Logan has been with?"

Nalani's eyes narrowed at Diana's words, her anger starting to boil inside her. "And what business is it of yours? I love Logan, and that's all that matters," she hissed defending that useless question again.

Diana let out a bitter laugh. "Love? Please, don't make me laugh. Logan is a man who's been with countless women. What makes you think you're any different?" She lies to irk her.

Nalani stood up from her chair, her fists clenched tightly she thought of slapping her, but yet again she calmed herself and decided to use words to break her. "You don't know anything about me or my relationship with Logan. You're just a jealous woman trying to put one over me," she said, her voice laced with empathy for Diana.

Diana stood straight, glaring at Nalani. "You think you're so special? You're just a pretty face. And pretty faces don't last forever," she sneered.

If you're so sure, why confront me about my man, when he didn't even spare you a minute of his time? I asked with an evil smirk and smiled as I seductively brushed a hair strand from my face.

What do you mean by that? Diana asked flaring up.

Look around you Diana, you look so classy but, you seem to have no standards for yourself. Nalani spoke mockingly. Poor thing, ... with all the men out there you're so obsessed with mine, tsk how unfortunate! I said with a taunting smile.

You can't be so sure, Diana said with sarcasm.

Oh, darling, to think you look so polished, why does it feel like you were just one of his toys he used on the nights I was away? I teased playing with her hair and she furiously pushed my hand away. Oops! I said and burst into laughter.

You'll pay for this! Diana said storming out of the restaurant angrily.

I'll be looking forward to that I responded as she left the restaurant.

The bystanders watched the scene with shock and horror, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Two elite women going head to head with each other over a man, wow. Impressive! Most of the crowd was in support of Nalani who didn't give in to anger but rather squashed her opponent with words.
