Chapter 47: Guardian

"It seems the kobolds have more gems in them than I had thought."

The child was wholly surprised as he read the insides of the kobold head. And from It, something he was unable to sense in the young kobolds head was found.

"All this time I thought the kobolds used their barks to communicate with each other. But it seems i was wrong. Their language stems far higher than just audio communication."

The child was surprised, as what the kobolds used to speak was actually psychic communication. That means a part of their brain can sent metal waves while another can receive and interprete them.

Making the creatures have psychic or telepathic abilities.

"A basic form of anyway."

As what he could see in its head, the kobolds didn't have much if any variety of choice to say. That means that these creatures probabbly used both their sounds and psychic capabilities to speak. Similar to how humans technically use their actions and voice to communicate.

The child wondered I it was possible to input such an ability in the goblins. With this communication ability, a lot of time would be shorter as for the goblins to grow a society. But for the time being, there was no telling if he could really do that.

So the child focused on something other the their psychic ability he found interesting.

It was their regenerative ability.

The child has seen it before, when the kobolds were being pierced by the arrows, they barely flinched.

Of course, one could attribute that to their resistance and mental fortitude but the problem is, the child saw a familiar kobold among the attacking group. The kobold had a snout that seemed like it was cut off before.

Yes, it was the very kobold the hobgoblin had almost killed five days ago. The problem I stay the kobold is almost completely healed. So the child believed that this was surely not the work of normal healing. Five days is too short to heal that far.

So the child believed that the magic properties of the kobold gave it enhanced healing.

"This should make it harder to take them down."

With all the secrets he could find on the kobold head completely deciphered, the child dissolved it. He then focused on something else.

"The kobolds have yet to leave?"

The child asked himslef as he saw the group of kobolds camping in the forest. As it few darker and darker when the sun set, the child had an inkling of what they intend to do.

Attack in the night.

In the night, the kobolds will have all the advantages due to their night vision. Although there was a moon hanging in the sky, it was it enough to shine light on the goblins. If a fight starts in the night, they will surely lose.

But how could the child let some thing like that happen?

"Since I am already discovered, why should I keep on hiding?"

The child ordered a few goblins to get inside the portal. Once inside, the goblins took out a few white crystals.

...

In the kobold camp, the kobold alpha addressed the kobolds. A few hours have already passed and the forest was darkening by the minute. As the red hue of the sun slowly disappeared until there was none, the kobold alpha felt the time it was waiting for approaching.

The kobold alpha looked at the total number of 25 kobolds waiting for its order. After nursing their wounds ad calling in more kobolds Rom the pack, they were ready.

The sun finally set till there was only darkness in the world.

"It is time pack members!"

The alpha kobold shouted to the pack members, ruling them up for another battle. But suddenly...

cho!

cho!

Bright and white light appeared from the goblin camp. Like serch lights, the white lights moved constantly on the stump clearing. Almost as if they were searching for something.

As the light lit up, the darkened forest turned to time Although inferior, but similar to the day light.

One of the search lights was shined on the kobold alpha. revealing it in the darkness. As though the light was mocking it.

"What do we do now?" One of the kobolds asked.

The alpha clenched it teeth in anger, but calmed not long later.

"We wait," it said.

...

The child looked at the group of kobolds drawing back into the misty forest.

"They still aren't leaving," the child mused. "What could they be playing at? Are they waiting for more kobolds to appear?"

Recognising the danger, the child wondered what they intended to do. As if more kobolds gather up, he really won't be able to stop the kobolds. Even if he used clever tactics to push them back, he would be overwhelmed by the shear numbers of them.

So what was the child to do if that happened?

"I need to know what they are thinking."

Do the child turned to an art he hasn't used in a long time.

"I need to predict the future. If I can peek at what will happen in the future, I will be able to counter everything they may throw at me."

So the child started forming time type Ether in his core. The bundle of white ether started moving coordinatedly. Forming multiple patterns of every now and then.

After a while, the child had enough ether to see what he wished to see.

So he concentrated the ether on one place, where he imputed the right amount of third order energy. As what he was doing was not like the time he used time ether to see the layout of the world's round him, a lot of third order energy was needed. As instead of seeing few little dots on the space, what he was looking for was actually the future. Which is a complete image instead of a few dots not unlike a map.

With third order energy energy imputed, the ether stopped writhing in weird and complex ways. the ether bundled together to form two shapes, these two shapes were still writhing and didn't show what they truly were.

But they didn't stay that was for long. As the two shapes started getting more and more clearer. Until their true firms were discernable.

It was a hobgoblin and a wolf, a go at wolf staring at a height of 1.5 meters. The wolf and hob-goblin started fighting.

Boom!

The wolf raise a claw and smashed it down. But the claw was blocked by the hob-goblins shield. The fight continued, but the ether forming the vision started to shake, in the end, the ether collapsed and returned to how it was before.

The child looked at the bundle of ether and wondered.

"Is that a Guardian?"
