The ground began to tremble, as though the very Earth was afraid. Countless trees shot out from the ground and in just a few seconds, a massive forest had formed. The cage that the two-headed beast was trapped in instantly broke apart, showing that it clearly wasn't actually made to restrain the thing.
Suddenly, Jessica and Mia found it impossible to properly spectate, as now all they saw was a thick set of trees one after another. Regardless of anything else, the both of them had gravely underestimated how strong these creatures were.
But it was already too late for them to do anything now.
As for Jack, the one directly embroiled in this mess, he looked around at the trees in confusion.
They were far larger than actual trees, not that Jack would know.
Though he simply followed his nature, getting excited after seeing something new. Jack got rather ambitious, wrapping his hands around the base of a tree despite only being able to hold onto a third of its circumference.
With a grunt, he pulled, but nothing happened.
After scratching the side of his head, he then decided to pull back his fist for a full power punch. He let out a cry while sending it forth.
A rather loud bang resounded.
When Jack pulled back, he saw that his knuckles were ripped and bleeding. And as for the tree, there was only a small dent in it, despite the fact he had smashed through a metal wall with pure strength alone.
"Wow!"
While he was reeling in shock from how hard the trees were, flickers of shadows came from around him. Jack quickly looked around, not out of fear, but rather curiosity.
"Eh? Who's there?"
Rushes of wind accompanied the various flickering shadows. After continually spinning around and looking at everything, he finally caught a glimpse of what it was.
There was a giant fox running around, the coyote half nowhere to be seen.
Just as Jack lost sight of it, the fox suddenly lunged from behind him. He immediately turned around, but before he could even think of moving, small tree roots suddenly rose up out of the ground and wrapped around his feet.
Not that Jack was planning on dodging in the first place.
In response to the fox's open mouth and claws, Jack did the only thing he really knew how to.
Punch it.
While his fist shot out, the claws came in from the left and right avoiding it entirely, and ripped into his torso, fracturing ribs and causing some of his intestines to spill out. Though Jack didn't have any reaction, and he wasn't pushed back since his feet were rooted in place.
His fist continued true, slamming into the fox's nose, causing its head to whip up in the air. The fox was stunned for a moment as it landed on its back. However, it recovered fairly quickly and ran into the forest.
As for the branches around Jack's feet, they couldn't take the tension and broke apart after that hit. He looked down at them, which prompted him to rub his chin in thought.
"Ah! I almost forgot to bring Seedy out to play!"
Jack tapped his storage deck and summoned out Seedy, who let out an enthusiastic roar the moment he appeared. Both of his heads looked around and quickly recognized that it was the middle of a fight.
Seedy tried biting down on one of the trees, but retracted it soon after, surprised by how exceedingly tough it was. While he was in confusion, tree roots suddenly shot out of the ground, wrapping around Seedy in an attempt to seize him.
Seedy let out a roar with both heads and frantically struggled, but these tree roots were even larger than the ones used to tie up Jack. In the end, they began to squeeze, causing many of Seedy's vines to burst from the sheer pressure.
In the end, Seedy escaped after giving up roughly half of his vines.
But if nothing else, the remaining vines that he left behind used their last dying breath to fight against the tree roots, mutually restraining each other for now.
Seeing all of this, Jack only giggled. He gave an exaggerated wave, while a coil of his intestine drooped down a bit further.
"Hi Seedy!"
Despite missing half his body, Seedy used one of its good vines to wave back enthusiastically.
While this was happening, it seemed that the fox saw this as a moment of weakness, thus lunging at Jack from behind. However, Jack just jumped up into the air without even turning around.
The fox had already committed to its pounce and couldn't stop itself, thus just hitting the ground underneath. And just a moment later, Jack landed on top of the fox's head. With a laugh, he violently slammed his foot down, piercing into the flesh.
Without waiting for a second, he promptly did the same for the other foot, now knee-deep inside the fox's head.
Although Jack hadn't pierced through the skull or anything, the fox still let out a cry of pain, swinging its head up and down, then left and right. Unfortunately for it, Jack had hooked himself with his legs, while his hands held onto the fox tightly.
Jack began laughing. Though it started off fairly normal, his laugh quickly became violent and devious. While pressing his body down on the fox's forehead, he examined the eyes with interest, as the large pupils were staring directly at him.
"Wow! Your eyes really are big! That must mean the fun you have with them will also be just as big, right?"
While saying that, Jack slammed both his hands into the fox's eyes.
"HAHAAA HAHA! AHAHA!"
The fox let out a shrill cry of pain, several times higher pitched than before. It instinctively closed its eyes, but the eyelids only got caught on Jack's wrist and did little to stop him. Like he was playing with putty, Jack continued to dig around curiously, having fun in his own way.
The tree roots almost seemed agitated when they noticed this change, attempting to go and help support the fox. However, the death throes of Seedy's vines were frighteningly violent.
Other tree roots shot out from the ground, but Seedy caught wind of them, grabbing onto them with all the vines he had left. While Seedy wasn't able to gain the advantage, if it was just stalling for time, then he could do it.
In the end, the fox and Jack began running around the newly made forest, slamming into pretty much every tree in their path. Blinded, the fox just continually ran around, partially to vent the pain, but also in an attempt to get Jack off its head.
But he remained on top the entire time.
It wasn't as though he wasn't getting hit. In fact, he was slammed against the trunks of trees several times now, to the point that his clothes were regularly getting torn, and large purple marks were visible underneath.
If not for the strange healing ability he got from the Joker card, he would've long since died from blunt trauma a while ago.
However, the fox was also suffering damage from these crashes. It wasn't thinking the most rationally to focus the impact on where Jack was, not that it would be easy for even a human to think that clearly while their eyes were being gouged.
As a result, the fox was badly injuring itself in the process.
In reality, if the fox hypothetically stayed still the entire time, the actual damage Jack could do just by playing around with its eyes was little. However, asking the fox to stay calm like that was rather unreasonable.
Bangs that shook the ground continued to resound one after another.
Both Jack and the fox continued to take massive impacts one after another, hitting trees that hurt more than brick walls. While Jack definitely wasn't looking good, with torn clothing hanging from most parts of his body. However, the fox wasn't better off. By now, it similarly had bruises all over.
As for the head, there were no longer bruises, but rather bleeding wounds. The fur only covered portions of the fox's face, while the others were just bloody messes, giving a rather jarring look.
The fox continued to let out a cry of despair to the air, just desperately wanting all the pain to go away. Though Jack simply couldn't understand it in that way. Even if he understood that killing was bad, the pain was just naturally a good thing in his mind.
As such, he thought the howl was coming from all the fun that it was having.
The fox continued to run around, slamming into things. However, it was quickly losing the energy to keep doing so. It began stumbling around, unable to slam into things with as much impact as before.
But while it was faltering, Jack definitely wasn't, continuing to dig into the fox's eyes, causing some clear, but viscous, liquid to come out of them. At its wits end, the Fox resorted to just bashing its head against the tree over and over again in a desperate attempt to get Jack off.
Ironically enough, it was more effective this time, knocking the air out of Jack and hurting him pretty badly. Although the fox was also suffering injuries, it wasn't nearly as bad as before.
If this continued on, then Jack's regeneration wouldn't be able to keep up.
