13.4 Lightning Rod

A bolt of lightning shot out from the idiot's dagger just as I was thinking about ways of killing him. The errant lightning collided with a nearby vat, making it spill its contents out into the valley.

*CRACK! CRACK!*

More bolts shot out of his dagger, this time toward the air for some reason. Was he just firing indiscriminately now?

"Over here, dumbass!" I hollered out, hoping that my antagonistic voice would grab his attention. We needed him to-

"Brother!"

I felt Lise grab my hand as she pulled me out of the impending flow of lava covering the floor. I guess that was-

*CRACK!*

A bolt of electricity slammed at my previous location just as Lise pulled me out of the way.

Huh. How did I not notice that?

After a few more seconds of running, we stopped at another part of the valley even deeper into the Central Furnace. Lise seemed to be fuming at me for some reason. Maybe if we lured him deeper-

*SLAP!*

"Focus!"
