Overwhelmed By The Underwhelming

Chaos did ensue and it ensue strongly, before anyone could even take note of the small-sized grey thing that was appearing in highly protected areas, towers and various constructs had suddenly, appeared out of nowhere or began slowly forming.

Some people were launched or pushed away by the ones that appeared nearly instantly, never being hurt much but separating everyone.

Camps were cut into multiple pieces, the chain of command was in disarray and soon enough, the dungeons and battle towers began spawning monsters as orb-like cages began hovering around random places or floating in the air, manifesting animals into realities.

The spawners used to have only things like mooses and some predators as their main offensive capabilities, they were still there but some others had joined the fray.

Swarms of small venomous animals crawled on the ground and onto the poor soldiers, who had been too busy staring at the incoming mass of elephants and whales falling from the sky.

Toxic frogs rained down upon them, some exploding into clouds of blood and viscera as they spread their toxins normally meant for self-defense.

The cacophony of screams, shouts, elephants trumpeting as though they were announcing the end of the world and the loud beating of the hearts of whales deafened everything and everyone.

No one had a clue about what was going on and no one could communicate about it, still, while everything was overwhelming, the soldiers still managed to gather up into formations, groups of soldiers from various species working together to tear down the animals and demolish the constructs.

They quickly managed to figure out about the fact that those weren't just buildings but that they were actual dungeons and battle towers, exactly the same way of working, thus, the bravest ventured inside to destroy the cores.

They were doing an extraordinary job of resisting but that was beside the point, they survived but couldn't do much more, dungeons and tower kept on sprouting all around, some on top or inside one another, animals kept on coming endlessly, animals may be nothing like monsters, they weren't even beasts with elemental affinity but they could still pack quite a punch.

The soldiers had trained their bodies and stats however, and some of them had their own species advantages.

As a high-ranking officier tried to communicate the situation to those deeper inside the territory, he could say a rhinoceros being stopped in its charge by rhinoceros beastman, flipping the massive beasts over his shoulders and sending it flying right at a swarm of rats.

The officier knew that this situation could only mean that the monsters had somehow infiltrated, however, he had never heard of those sort of tactics or of a monster with power like those.

The events of Rova hadn't been spread and the culprit had known of how to lay low, the Wretched Lord they knew was but a facade after all, the real one had nothing of a brute and was, in fact, standing right behind the officer at this very moment.

The man was garbed in heavy armor however, and was fairly powerful, no way for Axio to get him in a vital spot with his claws, even if he struck the right place perfectly, it wouldn't be a killing blow.

Instantly manifest a tower right where he stood? He would be flung into the air but for some reason, the impact of the tower didn't register well on things that weren't other buildings or generally inanimate.

The man was holding the device in his hands, trying to get it to work, seemingly taking forever to do it from Axiolypito's perspective, he would clutch it if he was hit, that was for certain, even the basic soldiers weren't faltering hard in front of what was going on outside, this guy should be the same or greater.

What to do? It was simple.

Extending one of his hands forward, the palm pointed at the back of the officiers, Axio did what he did best, let others do his job.

Something flew out of his palm and quickly expanded into one of his offsprings, this one had used to be Motherfucker, the wretch used to stand in for Axio in the duels, he had been merged with others since then and this one wretch had managed to not turn into a useless one even after so many mergings.

It looked nothing like it had used to either, for instance, after ample merging, the personality had completely changed and even its sex had switched, although no one would assume this monster was female.

She was huge and most of her harrowing physical appearance was concealed by one of her strange specificities.

It looked like she was wearing some sort of dark hood and cloak but there was none of it, Axio wouldn't give stylish clothing to his offsprings.

It was, in fact, pieces of her own skin stretched over her.

Immediately after being called on by Axiolypito, she got to work, the officier barely had time to turn and confront the disgusting presence that had suddenly appeared behind him before she had flung her arms to the side, making her flesh-cloak fling open and let tendrils through to grab the man by the throat, waist and arms.

Pulling him closer to her, then she simply clapped two of her hands right where his head had been before beginning to gorge on his still twitching corpse as fast as she could, lest she was sucked back into Axio's palm.

Wretched Lord quickly fetched the communication device from the man's hand before it was gobbled up, the thing was a bit cylindrical and had inscriptions adorning its whole shape.

The device was ready to be used, Axio could hear the voice of someone asking what the call was for, the officier really had been on the verge of success.

Axio snapped his fingers to get his offspring's attention and held the device up to her as he made a sign with his other hand, being well trained, she understood the message and recited something she had been taught, in a gravely voice, which still had a hint of feminity noticeable at the ends of sentences.

"Wretched Lord, of the Obsidian Queen's ministers, I am on my way" she said before crushing the device and eating it too, her only reward for job completed was to eat and she never missed an occasion.
