Chapter 48

Breathing heavily cold sweat covered Rias' body to the extent it seemed she had just stepped out of the shower. Her body shook from the stress and bits and pieces of her skin had vanished alongside Damian's energy.

"…What?" Damian muttered in complete surprise as his betrothed glared at him. Just before he could fully taint her demonic energy she released a burst of the power of destruction that destroyed his demonic energy with barely any mistakes. It was control she did not possess.

Unfortunately, before Rias could even dream of answering him the door exploded and a blast of thunder was sent flying toward him. Swinging his hand leisurely the lightning became pink before fizzling out of existence.

With his other hand Damian deflected the senjutsu enhanced punch that would have broken the ribs of a high class devil, the power of the blow harmlessly dispersing into the air. Grasping the wrist of the young yokai Damian had no qualms with throwing her at the incoming sword of her comrade.

Stopping his strike the swordsman dispersed his sword into a flurry of particles and caught his comrade, quickly moving away with the speed of a Knight. It was a series of events that took nothing more than an instant yet it firmly cemented Damian's power into their minds.

"Stop." Damian ordered as immense pressure descended upon the room, the confident young devils instantly sinking into the ground as it cracked around them. Frost quickly spread across the floor before vanishing alongside the pressure at his command. 

Appearing faster than they could even react the newly crowned Blue Dragon Emperor appeared and it was beyond obvious that he was enraged. Despite his rage, however, upon Damian's command, he forcefully stopped himself from any rash actions.

"Ordes, ᴄᴀʟᴍ ʏᴏᴜʀsᴇʟғ." Damian ordered the dragon emperor emotionlessly. The effect of his words was immediate as the Emperor's expression instantly evened out and relaxed his posture as the pressure vanished.

"What did you do to the president?" Akeno asked Damian seriously, holy lightning dancing around her fingers. She felt instinctively that Rias was in danger due to the Evil Pieces and ran over as soon as she could.

"Rias, you won't find what you want from me." Rather than answering the Priestess of Thunder Damian addressed his betrothed before walking out of the room. Akeno wanted to stop him, to ask why he did what he did even though it would hurt Rias but she couldn't.

It didn't take a genius to know that they were outmatched, especially when his peerage was right around the corner. Even if his peerage didn't arrive they'd have to fight the Mad Dog and the Blue Dragon Emperor. They would fail without even putting up a fight.

"We're leaving." Damian announced to his peerage through telepathy as he entered the main room, all of them quickly escaping their conversations and the event as a whole. Unfortunately, their visit had been a waste.

Once again he had been too cowardly to do what must be done. It really was a shame that somebody like him had been reborn into this world when there were surely others who deserved it much more than him.

"What'd you talk about Dad?" Ruby asked as she teleported onto the couch, a reddish white star above her head. Another star appeared over the coffee table before the remote appeared in her hand.

"Something for adults."  Damian replied impassively, ignoring his daughter as she immediately began watching her mother in action. They may be adults mentally but Damian had no plans of treating them as such. He knew more than any other that when you have the chance to be a child again it's best to take it lest you regret it for the rest of your life.

"They're close enough aren't they Boss?" Marco asked lightly, lifting Aqua and placing him on his shoulder before a blueish white star appeared in the room and Aqua appeared behind Damian and looked at Marco warily. 

"Perhaps." Damian replied vaguely before wandering deeper into the mansion. He had to contact the Shinto Faction and explain himself to Sirzechs before his home was removed from the map. "Hakuji, come with me." The Mad Dog commanded his Pawn.

"Okay." Hakuji replied simply but the bright smile showed that he was excited. Four hundred years ago Hakuji had stumbled upon the Blue Spider Lily, a divine treasure of the Shinto faction that grew once every hundred thousand years.

He was badly injured at the time and so he ate it in the hopes that it would give him enough energy to continue to escape. Ultimately, it resulted in him becoming immortal and meeting the Goddess whom he had stolen from.

While it was a bit shameful, Hakuji instantly fell in love with her. Unfortunately, he was chained away in the deepest depths of Yomi before he could apologize and proclaim his affection for the last four centuries.

Each day his mind wandered to the elegant and warm rays of sun that emanated from her as she looked at him and her kindness that spared him from eternal damnation. He had fallen hopelessly in love with Amaterasu.

"Thank you for saving me." Hakuji proclaimed his loyalty to his master who had saved him from the realm of eternal darkness that did not hold even a single ray of his beloved sunlight once more. While he wasn't aware of all the specifics it didn't matter.

All that mattered to him was that because of his master, he and the three descendants of Oriax he had been freed and could bask in her glory at all times. All he knew of the situation was that Damian had made a deal with both Amaterasu and Yatagarasu to save the four of them.

"Don't thank me, I'm still using you." Damian retorted with his ever present lack of emotions. All his peerage were like that, people he was using to his own advantage while they did the same to him. He wasn't dense, he understood they cared for him but their relationship didn't change.

He wasn't capable of being the caring Rias, the charismatic Sairaorg, the wise Sona, or even the innovative Seekvaira. He was nothing but a sly devil with no strengths besides manipulation and causing chaos.

Unfortunately, he wasn't like Rias.
