Chapter 33: Subtle Hints

Lance couldn’t explain it but some part of him felt the need to seek out Scott. He found himself wondering if it was a bad idea, going to Scott as often as he did, but then he reminded himself of what the man had told him. Lance was helping Scott heal from the past, just by being around him. Those words always comforted him whenever Lance found himself worrying that he might become bothersome to Scott.

Lance wasn’t expecting Scott to be overly excited to see him or anything, but stepping into the bookstore he hadn’t been prepared to see Scott slumped over behind the desk. For a split second, Lance found himself worried about Scott but quickly chalked it up to a lacking number of customers in the store.

‘The bell would have jingled the moment I came in. Did Scott fall asleep at work?’ Lance found himself wondering, silently creeping closer to the desk and keeping as quiet as he possibly could. Still no movement from Scott, but at least that gave Lance some time to admire the man.
