Chapter 47: I Owe You One

When they arrived at the coven, the witches and warlocks ran into the streets and cheered. They approached Sage’s horse, thanking her and yelling her name.

Sage was taken aback at the attention. She hadn’t done it alone. She glanced at Caspian but he was grinning, letting her soak it up. She rolled her eyes at him.

Why were they praising her? The Elders had cast the spell, she only followed their lead.

They rode to her mother’s house and dismounted, quickly moving inside. The coven soon dispersed and the streets became quiet again.

“I don’t understand,” Sage said. “It was mostly the Elders who subdued Nik.”

“But it was you who suggested saving him,” Caspian said.

Was that why they were cheering? Someone had finally stood up to the Elders and offered an alternative to destroying Nikolas, giving him a second chance?

“They won’t be happy when they hear what we plan to do with the shifters,” Sage scoffed.
