Chapter no.19 Lin Lai Vs Toji

In the world of Murim, cultivators were classified into two categories.

Taoists and Demonic Cultivators

They are two different cults of Spiritual Qi sensitives with different dogmas of the flow of Spiritual Qi.

Taoist believe that one should always be in control of their emotions, and use their powers to benefit those around them as that is the dogma of the Heavens and Earth. Taoists channel the flow of Spiritual Qi of the Heavens and Earth through their bodies believing in esoteric concepts of fate and predetermined destiny.

True Taoists tend to take 'control of one's emotions to the point of 'it is best to not have an attachment to anything that triggers bad emotions' hence why the possibility of falling to the dark side was always a worry. True Taoists end up having trouble understanding the role of emotions in others; such as in politics and family matters but sadly for the Murim world, true Taoists are few and far between as the Murim world's Taoists proclaim themselves as heroes as they allow the flow of spiritual Qi of the Heavens and Earth through their bodies but these " Taoists" are nothing more than two-faced cultivators who let their greed, pride, and envy control their lives.

Many Demonic Cultivators on the other hand believe that they should run wild with their emotions, and use their powers to benefit themselves at the expense of everyone else. Instead of allowing the flow of Spiritual Qi they would forcefully twist and contort the flow of Spiritual Qi of the Heavens and Earth with their raw emotions of hate and anger creating an unknown type of Qi known as Demonic Qi.

The Murim world viewed this Qi as evil because it caused its wielder's mind to erode till they went completely insane and barbaric.

Objectively speaking the difference between a Demonic Cultivator and a Taoist is their flow of Spiritual Qi but the Murim world has pushed this dogma that all Taoists are saints while all Demonic Cultivators are evil even though this couldn't be further from the truth.

A wave of dark energy made its way towards the surprised Lin Lai as Toji's sclera began to turn black as his raw emotions of hatred and anger manifested Demonic Qi in his saber.

Lin Lai clicked her tongue before an ethereal aura began to cover her body. The ethereal aura began to contort into armor around her hands and face. Her facial shape became sharper, and her teeth and nails also became sharper. Finally, six scarlet tails emerged from the back.

An alien-like sea of aura pressed down on Toji whose eyes showed insanity as Demonic Qi eroded through his psyche.

Lin Lai slashed forward as claw-shaped flames tore apart Toji's demonic wave before hitting him.

Toji moved through the flames as blood dripped down the claw marks decorating his body.

( ~ Whoosh ~ )

An arrow dislodged into Toji's shoulder began runic symbols outstretched out covering his entire body.

Zhongli appeared in front of Toji as his fist coated in spiritual Qi lashed out.

Toji's demonic aura eroded the runes as he countered Zhongli's punch.

Seeing this, Zhongli converted his punch into an upper-rising block.

Twisting his waist, Zhongli punched Toji with his free hand.

( ~ Whooom ~ )

Spiritual Qi and Demonic Qi battled it out but Zhongli couldn't win this war of attrition as Toji's demonic Qi won out and blasted Zhongli away.

Zhongli midair twisted and landed on his feet as he saw Lin Lai take a deep breath and fire a wave of blue flames at Toji.

Putting his hand up to his face as Zhongli felt the incredible heat from Lin Lai's attack, he thought that the battle had ended but somehow the burned and scarred Toji walked out of the flames with burns and soth all over his body.

His eyes seemed to melt and pop out of his sockets but he was still alive and from his rising aura, Toji seemed to have become more dangerous and animalistic.

His saber had melted away and the hot iron dropped onto his legs.

Toji jumped towards Lin Lai who immediately ducked down onto the ground on all fours as Toji missed.

Lin Lai's tails lashed up tearing through Toji's stomach, chest and shoulders.

Lin Lai flecked her ethereal tails as they tore Toji's body in half.

Zhongli sucked in as much air as he could when he saw the blood-soaked Lin Lai smile.

This woman was dangerous.

Outside the Dreamland, Warden Wong Fei chuckled as he gazed upon Toji's corpse.

Even after manifesting Demonic Qi, he couldn't do anything.

" S, Sir, that woman ..."

Hearing his secretaries words, Wong Fei just smiled.

" Yes, that woman is the peak Manifestation Realm expert."

" Should we neutralize her ?"

" And why would we do that Miss Lee ?"

" Because she is dangerous."

Wong Fei chuckled as scales began to manifest onto the back of his hand and unlike Lin Lai's ethereal animalist features, Wong Fei's scales looked like they were a part of his body.

Secretary Lee's eyes widened as she looked up at the warden.

" Y, You a, are in the Deity Spirit Realm."

Wong Fei chuckled and patted his secretaries head.

" Correct, why do you think I was chosen as the warden? It's because I can keep all of these scum in line."

Secretary Lee took a deep breath as she tried to calm herself down but failed to do so as her mind raced with questions.

Just why did the Murim Alliance station a Deity Spirit Realm Expert in this place?

Secretary Lee couldn't wrap her mind around it.
