"I am not a demon," the goddess insisted. "Why would you lie to me?"
"Only a higher-ranking demon had the ability to procreate with a human."
"Lies!" the goddess pushed him away from her, tears were already falling from her eyes. Then she bolted and disappeared into the night. Soon enough, Rosalind saw her confrontation with Belisarius.
"Did you— Did you know I was a demon?" she asked. For a few seconds, Belisarius only stared at her. Seeing this, she added, "You knew… you knew all along."
"I had suspicions," Belisarius admitted, his voice filled with regret. "But I was never sure. I never meant to hurt you. I was just concerned. That's all."
The goddess looked into Belisarius's eyes, searching for sincerity. "You were concerned? Concern for what exactly?"
