Chapter 19 David's doubt...

Ben took the paper with him and kept it in his office. Eva went to the management office to know about her duty .

Every body was staring at her. She thought

" What now? .. I just can't get it , why I always become a burning hot topic... I should try being an actor instead ".

She went in , and was shocked to know that her duty is in David sir's office, . She went in with a joyful face and came out with a sad face. She was sad , and there was another one who was sad as well, that's Ben .

She went back to David sir's room . She was now standing outside his office, gathering all her courage to face him again , after showing him his cartoon form. Her phone rang , it was Lara. She picked up the phone

" Hello , Eva where are you? David sir is asking for you" Lara said

. Eva replied

" yes I am on my way" .

She then went to the changing room and wrote everything to Era, now she took out the coat and wore it... but nothing happened... she was tensed...

"Why ? What happened..?"

she thought. She took it off and checked, it was her own coat , she remembered that in a hurry to come here she forget to take Era's coat. Her phone rang again.

It was David sir this time,

"Do you want whole day to come here?? come fast ??".

Before she could say anything he ended the call.

She thought

" What should I do now? If I go there and he asked about the notes .. then What?? I know nothing about that , ... ok What ever happens , I need to get the coat first, I am sure Era can handle him",

After deciding , she get out of there and ran to her room to get the coat. In her way to her room there was a patient in the lobby brought as an emergency.

The doctor in-charge was checking on him. Eva passed from there silently without being noticed, but one of the nurse saw her.

The patient was having trouble breathing, and his wounds were bleeding , the doctor asked the nurse to call the thoracic department, the nurse called them, she said that there was a doctor from thoracic department who just went out and asked to call her.

The ward boy there ran to get some help. When he went out Eva was about to get into her room, he called her , but she didn't respond. She heard someone calling for her but, she was not in a position to help.

So she rushed to get the coat. She found the coat and then remembered that she had to write it all to Era ,in a hurry she wrote ,

"rush to ER there is an emergency", and wore the coat.

Now it's Era's turn to rush , she saw the note and ran out from the room. Those people in the ER , already called for thoracic department. Jenny and other interns were informed, they came running. Era rushed too .

The patient stopped breathing. Jenny panicked, and was checking his eyes , shouting at the doctors and nurses there, Era stopped seeing Jenny ,but then she saw the patient was helpless and rushed to him. She said

"it's pneumothorax "

and asked the nurse for tools . The nurse brought all the tools required for a small surgical procedure and gave it to her. Jenny came forward and tried to stop her ,saying

"Do you know What you are doing right now? step aside..".

Jenny was her senior so Era was unable to say anything, she gave the tools to her , hoping that the patient must be fine.

Jenny took the surgical knife and was searching for the right place to pierce, but it was already more than four minutes, if the air in the pnemothorax patient is not released with in five minutes, then there is a high chance for the patient to go in a coma or sometimes the patient may expire .

Jenny was still hesitating, Era came forward and took the Scapel and pierced right in the chest of the patient and inserted a tube instantly, the air that was blocked, was released and the patient started breathing again. That was very quick and terrific.

David saw the whole drama from the first floor of the hospital and this made his confusion more stronger. Everybody there started claping for Era and now Jenny was furious on her. Era was still concerned about the patient, she tried to stop his bleeding with cotton and gauze.

She asked them to prepare an Operation theatre and call David sir for the emergency surgery. David went back to prepare for the surgery, and he asked Era to assist him , she used the same technique to wear the scrubs and get into the Operation theatre.

They both proceeded with the surgery . The operation went smooth, David keep observing her in the OR during the surgery. She was good in everything she does and that made David uncomfortable.

When the surgery was finished, David was about to give instructions, before that Era already started the post operative procedures.

David was full of confusions and he started doubting, that something fishy is going on, but couldn't figure it out. He decided to find out more about this confusion and left the OR.

Era was busy with her work. Jenny was furious, she called Kate and said

"Hey Kate how is it going ? How are you? Did you talk to your uncle , What did he say? "

. Kate replied

" Hi Jenny, don't worry, see I am fine , it's just like a holiday for me , I already spoke to uncle , he asked me to wait for a week and he'll take care of everything... "

Jenny continued

" You were right about that b***h , She is really an eyesore, I just can't take it anymore, this time she is gonna pay for what she did to you? ".

" hey don't panic , I know she will ... Jerry is already on his way... so don't worry, "

Kate said casually, ..Jenny asked again

" What do you mean by that ? ... Is Jerry joining us hear ? Oh that's wonderful news... uh... finally something good happened today". Kate said

" ya ... I am more than happy ... so just wait and watch, darling.."

and she ended the call.

Jenny was very happy to hear that. Jerry , Kate's boyfriend and also Jenny's bestfriend, was a well-known Cardiologist. Though he is excellent as a doctor but he is a monster as a human. Rude in behaviour and cruel in doing things, he had all the inhumane qualities.

They were in the same batch, and he does everything to help his girlfriend. He went to Canada for further studies. Now he is coming back which made Kate and Jenny happy.

Era finished all her work, and returned to the changing room, Lara called her to have lunch with them , she was not able to refuse as she don't have any excuses. So she said she'll come. She changed into her clothes and before she removed the coat , she wrote everything to Eva.

Eva was a little bit upset, for what happened in the morning, about her being incapable of saving someone.

she felt as if she is incomplete for the first time. She couldn't help that patient who was dying. She went to the Canteen with that dull look.

Lara and all the other friends prepared a treat for Eva , and wanted to surprise her. When they saw her sad ,they all surrounded her. They thought that David sir might have gave her a hard time during the surgery, and they tried to comfort her.

Eva never had many friends before , seeing all of them ,made her feel better. She did not say anything. They all had lunch together.

They were having fun, when everyone got the message to get back to work. So they all rushed to their work. Eva and Lara were on their way to David's office....

Thinking about what is waiting for her... now.....
