It was a bold move to continue to hold the sports festival after everything that went down, but he supposed that this was also the school's form of retaliation.
The UA Sports Festival...
Deku remembered all the times he used to watch the spectacle on TV, cheering on the next generation of heroes.
Dreaming of the day he'd be up on that stage, showing the world his quirk and what he could do with it. Taking the first big step into becoming the hero he always wanted to be...
...Another rotten joke at his expense...
"Mr Nezu, Mr Nezu!" A young woman wearing a dark blue pantsuit and unbuttoned white shirt thrust her microphone toward the Principal. "Tsuki Monogatari, NHA News! Can you guarantee that the festival will be better protected than the USJ?"
"We are enlisting a large number of heroes, as well as the Police Force, to act as security for this event. If the villains wish to try something once again, we will be ready this time." The sentient creature clarified.
In the chorus of reporters fighting to gain his attention, Nezu pointed out a man with curly black hair and glasses, wearing a beige suit jacket, with what appeared to be a camera lens sticking out of his hand. "Taneo Tokuda, Juzo News! Aren't you afraid that you are pushing the children into the festival a little too suddenly? What if they're still shaken from the recent attack?"
"We believe that the festival shall help our students recover from their endangerment, as well as bring some normalcy back into their everyday school lives," Nezu answered, keeping his calm in the bombardment of flashes and voices. "We all look forward to showing you the best and brightest our school has to offer, as our students are eager to show you all what kind of heroes they shall be in the future."
Deku slumped back in his chair, letting the noise of the news report blur in his ears. No doubt Bakugo would be pleased as punch to be taking part in the sports festival. And after what the young villain did to him at the USJ, it would be the perfect time for him to piece his chipped ego back together.
Bakugo...
He had gotten away with so much.
When he found out Izuku was Quirkless, he took it as an open invitation to torture and torment him, all because he could.
As they grew, the beatings only got worse. No matter what he did to Izuku, no one called him out on it. Not even the teachers. His parents' barely did anything, figuring that it was just two friends rough-housing!
It grew so bad, he began to fear going to sleep, terrified to see the blonde blaster in his nightmares. Laughing as he pounded on Izuku, relishing n his tears and cries for help, burning his skin with every strike, thanks to his devastating power.
He labelled Izuku with a name that would haunt him for his entire life.
And now he was at UA. Studying with heroes. Learning to better his Quirk.
Living Izuku Midoriya's dream...
"Face it, Deku! You'll never be a hero! NEVER!"
The Quirkless boy curled into himself and wrapped his arms over his head. "Stop it..."
"Awww! Is Deku gonna cry?! Go ahead, you Quirkless baby! CRY YOUR EYES OUT!"
"Leave me alone..."
"Go ahead, Deku! Hit me! Push me back with your quirk! Oh, wait...that's right...you don't HAVE ONE!"
"I didn't do anything to you...!"
"No wonder your dad bailed on you! If I ever had a Quirkless kid, I'd leave him behind, too!"
"Stop it!"
"If you wanna be a hero so bad...take a swan-dive off the roof. Maybe you can be reborn with a quirk, in your next life!
"SHUUUUUUUTTTTTTT UUUUUUUUPPPPPPP!"
Deku shot up and grabbed his keyboard. Fueled by pure anger and agony, he slammed it into one of his numerous monitors, sending it crashing to the ground, taking a few plugs and wires with it. As the screen fizzed and frazzled, His shoulders shuddered with every heavy breath he took. He stared bloodshot eyes into the open air. After a while, he was able to get a hold of himself, wiping his face of sweat and stress.
He looked down at the wrecked monitor, the image on screen frozen on a shot of the grand and majestic UA stadium, where the sports festival had been hosted ever since the school was first erected. "Heroes of the future, huh? What would you think if you knew about their past..."
The moment those words left his lips, Deku's mind sparked to life.
A plan started to lay itself out before him. His eyes grew wide as it continued to unravel, showing more and possibilities. As the formula drew itself out, a smile began to grow on the Quirkless villain's face. A chuckle bubbled up in his throat, then he laughed...
And laughed...and laughed...and laughed...and laughed!
He suddenly stopped. He then grabbed his keyboard in a flash and began typing at a blinding speed. He looked up a plethora of pages and images and hit the print button like there was no tomorrow. While his printer started churning out papers, he zipped over to his backpack and removed every journal he had, and started ripping out pages.
When his printer stopped its operation, he dashed over and took up every freshly-inked document.
Once he had everything he needed, he scurried over to a stray wall and began sticking, glueing and taping papers to the surface, linking them together with strands of red string.
After two hours of work and planning, he stepped back to admire what he had created.
...And it was beautiful!
A gentle rapping on wood drew Gentle from his book and tea. Heaving himself out of his lounge chair, he made his way to the front door of his apartment/hideout and looked through the peephole.
His moustache lifted upwards in a smile, as he spied a familiar mess of green hair.
The flamboyant thief threw the door open and snatched his second protege up in a hug. "Deku my boy!"
"H-Hey, Mr Gentle!" Deku wheezed. "S-Sorry I haven't been in touch!"
The elasticity man spared the boy of any further crushing and placed him back on his feet. "We were worried sick!"
"Worried? What for?" The young villain asked quizzically.
"Deku!" A sudden collision to the boy's right leg caught Deku's attention. Looking down, he spotted La Brava, hugging his leg tight and glaring up at him with a rather adorable pout. "You scared the heck out of us, you big dummy!"
"Scared you? What do you mean? What are you talking about?" The boy was beyond confusion. The dazzling duo dragged the boy inside, closing the door behind them from any prying eyes.
La Brava took the boy's hand and dragged him over to her laptop, bringing up a news report on the USJ attack on screen. "This is what we're talking about!"
"Oh...right..." Deku rubbed the back of his head bashfully. "Guess I forgot. Must have slipped my mind, what with all the craziness going on."
"You tried to kill All Might!" The boy's athletic mentor shouted. "And a whole class worth of students! That is not what I trained you for!"
"Gentle, wait! I can explain!" Deku pleaded desperately.
Gentle and La Brava both stood side by side, with folded arms and sour looks on their faces. Deku didn't know what was going on when Gentle spoke. "Well...we're waiting..."
"Oh...Oh! Right! Sorry! This has never...I mean, no one's ever..." Deku stopped his babbling and cleared his throat. "See, it's like this..."
The young villain told his side of the story. How he got caught up with the League of Villains, how he was forced to attack the school under Shigaraki's threat of death.
And how he did everything he could to stop anyone from getting hurt. By the time he was done, Gentle and La Brava were stunned.
"My word...that's just...barbaric!" The flamboyant thief declared as he fell back into his comfy chair.
