Alex snorted at that but didn't deny the statement since he was aware that despite the rough life he lived on earth he was always more concerned with others than himself. This had only gotten worse in this new life of his where he actually had people concerned about him. "You all make it very hard not to be." he wrote on the ground. "Hahaha! aye , good folks'll do that to you. Hard to be a right selfish prick when you are surrounded by good people who'd give you the clothes off their back if you asked." the smith said with a smile.
"Still there's nothing wrong with a bit of selfishness every now an again." the man said before going silent to watch the sunset while leaving Alex to ponder his words. Eventually the man said his good nights and left Alex alone for the night. The next day Alex woke up to a rather hung over woman with short hair draped over him asleep. Somehow the handler had managed to make it to his temporary nest while drunk before climbing on his back and passing out , all while he was unaware. 'If I didn't know any better I'd swear she was the hunter between the two of them." he thought with a small smirk at the idea.
Alex got up and walked out of his nest after grabbing his pouch and headed over to the canteen in order to get rid of the woman on him peacefully. This didn't mean he didn't contemplate rolling her off his back into the cold water of the docks but he figured that might leave her with a bit of a grudge so decided against it. Much like he had thought the smell of food roused the woman from her slumber as she slipped off his back to sit at the nearest table groggily.
Alex ignored the snickers coming from the head chef and headed down to the docks where he was ambushed by Roya. She started to compare one of his old shed scales with his new scales with an angry face. "All of that effort! Wasted! They are totally different in shape , size and density!" she said with an irritated expression. Alex was actually surprised at how expressive she was being since most of the time she was rather blank faced and calm. Alex chose to ignore her and continue his trip to the water and by extension his target for the day , gobul.
Before successfully hunting the great jagras Alex was unconfident in his chances of being able to take out this large monster. But after seeing how well he stacked up against the great jagras he realized that he should be roughly a peg higher on the food chain then the thing. Alex wasn't going into this fight blindly however as he had done his own research on the monster when he first discovered it lurking near astera months ago. The gobul's greatest weapon was ironically useless against Alex thanks to his [paralysis resistance] and [poison resistance] traits that directly countered the neurotoxin in the monsters tail.
Even better was that the gobul was a notoriously poor swimmer for a leviathan type monster and was known to be extremely unlikely to leave their finding spot unless directly attacked. Alex was going to use the method he used for the octopi to basically either force the thing to attack or cause it to die from being poisoned and not moving. If Alex were to poison it and wait for the poison to run it's course the monster would quickly recover but he planned to poison it constantly to prevent this.
This was an admittedly horribly cruel method to hunt but Alex preferred being cruel towards his prey than towards himself by choosing a head on confrontation. As it stood the gobul could still swallow Alex whole thanks to its massive mouth that could devour prey only slightly smaller than itself , much like the great jagras. With these plans in place alex slipped below the waves and began to make his approach.
