Chapter 38: Desperation

My first urge is to go to the barracks and free Dominik and the others. But I remind myself that the area is filled with guards, and it would not be long before I am captured and probably killed. I send out a prayer for their well-being, but shift my direction towards where I hope the castle is.

I follow the moon, urging the horses through the trees. Every sound that startles me sends me into a spiral of fear, as I worry the guards and the Commander have caught up to me. But as I stare over my shoulder, I see nothing through the darkness.

Finally, I exit the forest, and thankfully see the tall walls of the castle rising over the hills before me. I start to make my way towards it, but as soon as the large doors come into view, I am reminded of the guards which stand outside it.
